henchmen take a half share of monster xp, but are being paid by individual employers, so do not subtract from the global treasure share, just from their employer's xp share.

Ok, I've crunched some numbers...
If the jewelry ends up being worth about 10k, we could give William enough gold to make level, and then either divvy up the rest equally, which is about 2300 gold per share. If we left Flandil out of a share, it would be about 2700 gold (which would leave Jariel about 112 short of making 4th fighter).
If the Jewelry is worth closer to 30k, then each share after William is about 5170, leaving Kelmult and Flandil a bit short to make level. Kelmut would be short about 1040, Flandil 1570.
I suggest we go ahead and give William the gold to make level then get the Jewelry divided and decide how to proceed.
Jariel would sure love to make level, and we could give Jariel and Gallaine enough gold to make level. If we got at least 13500 for the Jewely, that would do the trick. Jariel needs about 2820 to make level and Gallaine will make level with almost any division.
Obviously if we give anyone outsized shares, we should track that to some extent and dock them from future treasure, though it might take a while for William to make up.

So a clarification on my proposal above...
I'm willing, based on a guess as to the value of the jewelry (and honestly just based on the gold itself), to immediately give William enough gold to make level given his 10% XP bonus and his share of the monster XP. This lets us take care of Flandil. Then we will decide if we want to cash in at the town here, or go back to Verbosh with our haul.
Got a question, can we give henchmen a portion of our GP share after we earn XP? Obviously the henchmen would not then earn XP from the treasure. That actually seems a bit flakey though.... (different if the money is used to attract a new henchman/hireling).
I could also see immediately granting Gallaine enough gold to make level. Jariel's need maybe a bit high to immediately grant.
So again, in summary. Give William enough gold to make level, then get ourselves someplace to appraise the jewelry and divvy the rest of the treasure so everyone else gets XP at that point.
And of course keep track of William's excess treasure share and make it up to the rest of us in the future.

Even if we did give extra XP to William so he can level, doesn't he have to rest and memorize cure disease and won't Flandil die in that time? If that's not the case, sure we can bump William up.

Okay, if it will save Flandil, William would be okay with this plan.
Normally I'm very democratic about such things. I figure, I'll make the level when I make the level.
But in this (sole, isolated) case, I'll do it.
Please note that William will be the most adamant about the rest getting their fair share of the next treasure (and the next, and the next, if need be) to make up for it.
(He's going to rationalize it as Gifts to his God. It's the only way I can not see it as meta-gaming (not that there's anything wrong with that, in a strictly Gygaxian way...).)
