Flandil's politeness seems to work - one guard makes a snide aside to another about Flandil's probable sexual persuasion, and they swagger away.

You continue pushing through the crowds, past a Sword Maker's Shop and the Red Axe Ale House, a Silversmith and a Lamps and Oil Shoppe, a poky looking temple dedicated to some dude with a big sword and a Bowyer, the Magistrate's building and the Stagger and Drag Inn, the Balashei Bar, The Greater Demon Exterminating Company, a Tin Smith, Sasalman's Mercenary Outlet, a Curio Shop, and finally, across from a hovel with a crude sign saying KING VERBOSH XXXI, the Happy Lady Bath House, it's sign flanked by two low hanging red lanterns! About a bow shot further away, nestled near the inner castle walls, is what you take to be the Singing Mountain Inn.

A few of the happy bathhouse ladies lounge around outside. They must just have got out of the bath themselves, as they are in various stages of dishabille.

"Nevertheless, they may be able to provide for our needs, as unconventional as they may be for such an establishment." Flandil enters the bath house and enquires as to the services available.

He is primarily interested in a hot bath. If such comes with assorted young women to lather him, he will accept rather than create a scene with what may be perceived as outlandish or outmoded sensibilities.

Skip all sorts of interesting roleplaying hooks in the interests of pushing the game along

Although the place has extraneous activities, it still has hot baths at 1 gold for an hour's soak. This includes guaranteed hot water, soap, towels, amd a modest servant to help

Once they are in their private room Gallaine confides to Zarano, "These are strange folk indeed. If they treat Dwarfs little better than Goblins, I fear they may treat Elves little better than Orcs. This does not bode well..."

Flandil pays for a 1hr bath.

Afterwards, feeling much refreshed, he heads to the nearby "Sasalman's Mercenary Outlet" to try to hire a reliable body-guard or two while in town. Then it is off to the Singing Mountain Inn for a room.

Gallaine will awake before dawn, trek some reasonable distance upstream from the griminess of civilisation, and bathe in the river.

That should prove to be rather invigorating :)

Gallaine gets a huge surprise when she tries to bathe. As she steps into the river, her foot fails to penetrate the surface. She is so surprised that she slips and falls onto the surface of the water. Gingerly, she gets up again, balanced on top of the water. It looks like Gallaine can walk on water

Flandil hires two former city guards at 1 gp per day (each) to be his body guards in the city (we can flesh out personalities later). Sasalman also knows of opportunities, and tells you to stop by with the whole party when you have time.

The Singing Mountain Inn is clean and sumptuous. Waitresses wear satin dresses and crisp linen aprons. A room suite is 5 gp. The prix fixe tonight is cold smoked river oysters with a dill sauce, garden greens with a honey lime vinaigrette, venison loin in a sour cherry sauce with potatoes au gratin and fresh asparagus, followed by a raspberry cheese tart.

Flandil sighs with delight as he settles in for a proper meal and a good night's sleep. The refreshed and cleaned William heads back to the Goblin.

DM'S NOTE

We could spend weeks having town adventures, but the party is now in three groups and we all want to kill things and take their treasure. So we will fast forward to next morning, and all meeting in the courtyard of the Goblin after breakfast. Think about any things that you really wanted to resolve that night, and think about what you want to achieve in the city tomorrow.

All the gossip is about the spiders trying to take over the city. The Temple is hiring adventurers, and so is the City, so there are two opportunities there. I know some people want spell books.

At the Goblin, Kelmult found out the following interesting tidbit-
RUMOR: a dwarf has supposedly looted a dwarven war hammer from a green dragon hoard away in the north west mountains. Apparently it had a twin, but the dragon came back so he had to run

At the Highway House, Gallaine heard that the orcs have been very aggressive this year in capturing prisoners for their annual Torture Festival in the Forest of Death

Jariel: "I'm not sure I'm up for fighting spiders. My thought is we get the supplies we need the best we can, and head back to continue looting the Gorlminder."

Jariel will ask where the best stable is to purchase a warhorse from. Also, he is interested in picking up a spell book if possible.

He would also like to hire a henchman or two.
