"Your assistance is welcome, that I can afford." Flandil says to Gallaine. "As to the men-at-arms, it seems we shall have to locate some treasure first and then see about hiring some help."

I'll hire two men-at-arms. I'll pay them out of my own pocket, for the good of the party, but they must understand that they don't get a share of any treasure we gain.

Let's try the leather and polearm guys; when we get attacked, they'll get to strike first.

Yup, that sounds right to me. Are any of the elves packing spells? Or do we really have no Magic-User at all? Just asking...

Gallaine lacks the dedication required to tax herself memorising complicated spells. She prefers the immediate gratification of bow and arrow.

I forgot to say, Flandil was going to purchase a lantern and two flasks of oil in town to better provide illumination for his comrades ! (14gp?) Hopefully not too late... Flandil has Charm Person prepared again.

Righty-ho! The advantages of a Lantern are they can be out down on the ground during a fight and still provide light, they do not get put out as easily, they last longer, and a thrown lantern is a flask of oil plus a torch all in 1 round
