Frere Reynauld waits in the room with the statues.
"Ye scouts and others in the front line may decide this battle's plan. Your ideas sound clever and sure to gain us victory."

Sounds like the plan has been seconded by Kirsa and Eindri at least, so let's do it!
Some caveats: - Let's open with Locfir casting charm and tossing in a bag of coins, so that we can at least try negotiation. If that doesn't seem to work, he'll run away immediately.
- The flaming oil will be our first response to aggression. Before we move into position, we'll test to make sure that our ember-torch will indeed cause an oil-soaked rag to ignite - if not we'll make a flame when we get there, by having Kirsa light a twist of kindling with a tinderbox while Liss holds a cloak to shield her from the Men's sight.
- Argyll's sleep spell will be our last offensive move before all the forward team runs away, and the choice of whether or not to throw it should be up to his assessment of the situation.

Eindri nods, agreeing with the plan to attack the men first as stated by Locfir. "What's the best location for the front line fighters like Bro and myself? A bit in front of the archers in the hallway?"
(OOC: Have Sardan and Kroth's players wandered off? My apologies to you folks if you are, I just haven't seen you around in the last few days and didn't want to leave you out of he fun.)

"To defend the archers - and my own retreat - is a wise use of your might," Locfir says. "Perhaps you might crouch behind your shield, so that you have cover against any returning fire and our allies can fire over your head."
OOC: I know Kroth was intentionally waiting out by the statues, perhaps a wise bid for survival - the one survivor of my recent visit to the Tomb of Horrors pursued a similar strategy to great effect.
Also OOC: I'm self-conscious about pushing plans forward. In a face-to-face game I'd look to non-verbal behavior to tell me if I were being too pushy, but without that bandwidth I'd appreciate feedback (OOC or by PM) to let me know if I should allow more time for folks to put in their input (esp. since we're in different time zones).

I am ready to go, but don't mind waiting for other player input. I think at the very least we should assume that if no one has said "nay" by tomorrow morning that we will proceed with the plan as outlined by Tavis (incidentally, I don't think you are being pushy and I am pretty sure everyone was going to agree with dealing with the men first as soon as James revealed that I heard them).

Bosco Hrusp
Bosco stations himself in the hallway by the western door to the statue room, spear at the ready. If need be, he'll set the lantern down inside the door to limit the amount of light in the hallway.
[OOC: I still can't tell what the scale of the map is - that round chamber looks an awful long way away!]

For play by post, players have to just be pushy and throw out a complete plan and then others can adjust it. Otherwise you spend days going 'what do people think of this?'

Did I understand correctly that the plan is this?
Locfir+ 2 thieves go to charm them
Archers and fighters follow at a distance
Magic users, Cleric stay in statue room
If so, then maybe one of the magic users should join the archers and fighters in case someone needs to send the humans into a deep slumber.
Also, the good Frere should probably keep an eye on the corner and be ready to repel the living dead if they start flanking us.

Locfir and his stealthy companions move as quietly as possible toward the circular room at the western end of the hallway. The dim light emanating from the room is a peculiar purplish color not unlike that you saw outside the Red Gate as you climbed the Stairs of Mavors. The voices you here are speaking softly, almost as if they were in whispers -- but not quite. Rather, they possess a strange, distorted quality to them, as if you were hearing them through a filter of some sort. The language they are speaking is unknown and, in any case, difficult to hear through the distortion.
Peering into the room before attempting to enact your plan, you see what look like four individuals engaged in heated conversation. Three are dressed in archaic armor, while the fourth wears the robes of a spellcaster. All four of them look insubstantial and ghostly. They are the source of the purplish light, although you also see motes of purplish, glowing dust floating about the room as well. The shades seem to take no notice of you, being more involved in their own discussion -- argument might be a better word.
The room is filled with smashed wooden furniture, including benches and tables. There are empty and dust-covered shelves on the walls and a rack of polearms in the southwestern part of the room. The whole place is covered with dust, although there is some evidence of someone having been through the area not that long ago.

Locfir trembles and signals the retreat to Kirsa, Liss, and Argyll. He is eager to be led back through the darkness to the party's circle of torchlight.
"As Argyll foretold, we have found a great wyrd. Some sort of ghost or time-projection of the ancients, I believe. I am grateful to our noble goblin for the discovery, and will hope to discern the birth-dates of those stuck within it when we have the liberty of further study.
"For now I judge it less of a threat than either the skeletons or the grunting beasts. Rocks ready to hurl? Clubs ready to bash? Nooses and oil ready?
"Noble goblin, you may throw the first stone."

Issa positions himself at the good cleric's shoulder, ready to repel the dead so that the priest's prayers can be effective.

Argyll memorizes their faces and clothing before retreating.
When he gets back to the party, he watches the preparations for the skeleton fight. He looks at his darts and shakes his head. With a shrug of his shoulders he pulls out and readies his dirk (dagger). Then goes to his place in the battle order.

I wait for everyone to get in position. When the archers and dart throwers are positioned down the hallway to the west, the oil is ready to be pooled on the floor immediately to the east of the west door into the statue room if need be, two nooses are placed in the statue room so that the mouth of each noose is between the Frere and Brom & Eindri, and the pull-ends are near Bosco & Issa, then I check with the brawny fighters in the statue room and make sure that the good frere is ready to rebuff the undead if we need to beat a hasty retreat. When everyone is ready, I boldly walk around the corner towards the skeletons with my wooden stakes in my left hand.
I hurl a stake with all my might at the lead skeleton; if they stir and attempt to follow me, I retreat back to the statue room as planned. If they do not stir even after I throw all three stakes at them, I will relay this information and suggest that we attempt to pepper them with arrows from a distance.
