I'm preparing to run Chapel of Silence by Mollie Plants sometime this summer, and in reviewing the writeup, I came across this stat block for some ghouls in room 5-3, page 41 (emphasis added):

So there you have it - an adventure written for Holmes and published in Dragon with duration of ghoul paralysis made explicit.
What I find interesting is that 1-4 turns is specified nowhere else in D&D, making this a unique, Holmesian, duration. |

Only question remaining is...combat turns, or not?
That would make the effect last much shorter, giving low-level characters a fighting chance against surviving an encounter against ghouls...
