Highbough begins research on the spear. For starters he takes note of its materials, decorations, method of construction, likely age, and distinguishing features. Then he checks these facts against the available literature.

Ulric and Highbough; the Concourse Library

By the steady little flames of the pair of lanterns they have do Ulric and Highbough set about their research...

The Concourse Library is mainly an archive of legal proceedings, treatise, trade agreements and so on. However, already known to Ulric, is the smaller collection of tomes and scrolls relevant to the pursuit of a more obscure arcana, and this is where the pair begin their meditations.

In no time at all they are completely consumed amid the dusty shelves of tomes and scrolls and piles of ancient paperworks... Ulric [1d6=6!] and Highbough [1d6=6!].

Six hours seems to pass in a blink, but the afternoon is fully gone, and the evening well and truly begun before the duo each have uncovered what they seek. By this time hunger is gnawing insistently at their bellies, and a genuine thirst parches their throats.

But they have knowledge (check your messages).

The Plough and Furrow

Ulric and Highbough are at the Concourse library.

Josiane, Dorgan, Guntram, Desmond/Mondes, and Gustave are at the cemetery.

Everybody else is settling into the rooms at The Plough and making comfortable for the afternoon... looking forward to a good night's rest (and levelling up!).

Highbough whistles a jaunty Elf tune as he catches Ulric's attention and points his chin in the direction of the Plough and Furrow.

Ulric nods his approval and collects his things.

"There will be time enough for more studying later. Now let's go get some food and some more rest. I intend to be back here tomorrow."

Back to the Plough and Furrow.

Once back at the Plow & Furrow, Highbough keeps to himself and eats his supper in silence.

When he has a private moment alone with Ulric, he will inquire: "How fared you with the potion? I have identified the spear; its magic may help keep this old Elf alive a bit longer yet!"

If Olaf runs into others of the party downstairs while he is eating his supper he will tell them that he has rented rooms for everyone, "We'll be two or three to a room, but we'll all have good soft beds to rest our head upon. I plan to make good use of that bed, too!" he concludes with a grin and a wink.

Ulric also gets himself some food and ale once back at the inn.

"The potion has some interesting qualities," he says to Highbough. "If my sources prove accurate it can transform the drinker into the form of any person or creature. A most useful concoction in our line of work to be sure."

"What manner of enchantment does your spear have to save your life?"

Highbough looks both ways to make sure nobody is eavesdropping. "Power to wrinkle the very fabric of space, my friend! I look forward to demonstrating it in battle."
