Very Well.
Padrig recovers his guttering, nearly spent torch from the passage way, while Ulric drags the broken bodies of Michele and Anwyn into the Ogre's lair. Flewellen's corpse remains downstairs.
"I don't like the pong of that," grumbles Thorgrim, indicating the great fuming cook-pot of the former residents, with the barest tilt of his head as he eyes the state of the large chamber.
Gustave is still poking at the Ogres' stores as the other move in and make themselves known to the ancient Elf who remains chained to the wall at the rear of the cluttered room.
Dieter, Mads and Olaf, seeing that their war-craft is no longer required, thankfully let themselves down to rest their tired bodies, to clean their wounds, and straighten loosed and damaged armour.
Thorgrim plonks himself near the two dark tunnels at the rear of the chamber, his keen Dwarfish eyes glinting in the dark. "I'll keep watch up here," he says.
-- The three fighting-Men are resting. Thorgrim is on watch at the far end of the room.

Meanwhile Gustave's attention is drawn to the shadowy bulk of numerous crates, barrels and chests beyond the crude Ogre pallets. Mayhap these supplies constitute the monsters' hoard?
Noticing that nobody checked, Andaros will search the crates, barrels and chests in the chamber. He will poke all of the containers with his mace (or with a 10' pole, if someone has one and is willing to lend it to me) before touching them. ¿Anything interesting or of value?

Andaros moves across the room, past the smoldering cook-pot and the filthy Ogre pallets to the stores where he and Gustave poke and prod at the loot.
There is indeed quite a stash of victuals fit for the indescriminant diner. These include a barrel half full of salted and dried lizards, fish, snakes and toads -- the smell of which is nearly enough to turn a Man's gullet. Also there are the skinned carcasses of two goats, an aligator, and two unfortunate Men not looking in the least well preserved. Stacked against the wall behind these is a large basket containing dry loaves of a grey bread and a half eaten wheel of a hard, but none the less pongy cheese. Beside this pile stand two small kegs of a coarse liquor and a larger barrel of a crude beer, and a large open crate containing a considerable supply of grubby root vegetables.
Besides the food stuffs there is a considerable pile of animal furs, tusks, and skins, as well as two chests of considerable girth. One of them has been smashed open with an axe, and the larger portion of its volume is empty. The remainder contains a litter of silver and copper coins -- perhaps a hundred or so all told.
The second chest is draped over with a suit of brandished white chainmail armour and matching helm which are graven with copper banding writ with etchings. Nearby are also a stout pole axe, mace, and a backpack. Discarded on the grimy floor is a glorious white leather bound tome proclaiming itself to be The Innocent Opus.
Nearby are also The Cypher's possessions; his supple black leather armour, backpack, daggers, bedroll and a waxed satchel containing The Infernal Amicus, an ancient tome bound between thick covers of black velvet, and held fast by a silver buckle upon a belt of supple black suede.

Meanwhile, Dieter, Mads and Olaf conclude their rest [1d6; Dieter=4, Mads=3, Olaf=2] and feel moderately refreshed. However, their labours have been long and their hurts are deep.
Dieter now has 5 of 12 hit points. Mads now has 5 of 9 hit points. Olaf now has 6 of 10 hit points.
In fact all of you are bone weary after a long days' march and a further hour deadly of dungeoneering. Dusk must be well gone by now... a meal and a night's rest would be most welcomed by all of you -- especially Highbough, who remains chained.

"Finally, here is my armor and gear." says Pelenwin, walking over to the chest. "Why does it always have to be covered in ogre slime."Pelewin dons the armor and helm and grabs his weapons and packpack, pole axe at the ready. After cleaning off the The Innocent Opus, Pellenwin sets it carefully in his pack

"Not to worry," Ulric says to their new companion. "You shall have your vengeance. We have already slain two of the ogres and three of there dogs. We have seen two others, one of which was quite large and clearly the leader. How many have you seen since you've been here?"
Ulric examines the chains holding the ancient elf to see if he can be easily freed.

Thank you, gentle Man. I am Highbough, known as the Cypher. I have spent two weeks in misery, manacled to the wall of this grisly chamber.
In that time, I have heard the Ogres name themselves as Wolfgung, Griswold, Igor, Deggerhund and Etta. I have only ever seen four of them however. (Perhaps the fifth is quartered down yonder hallway, or maybe not even an Ogre at all?)
Then just minutes ago the strangest thing happened.
All three Ogres present pulled up arms, took with them their three "pet" wolves, and headed out into the passages. The sounds of battle ensued. Then Deggerhund came hastily back into the room with a fresh corpse over his shoulder, smashed open one of the crates and grabbed another hefy sack, and departed in haste via one of the back tunnels.
If you have slain two of the Ogres, then you are mighty warriors indeed! An enemy of their kind is an ally of mine. Free me from these chains and I shall join your cause.

"My mace feels lonely and my arm weak. I will break your chains, Cypher."Pelenwin goes over to The Cypher and begins to bash his chains with his mace. "I too was a captive of these vile monsters. My name is Pelenwin the Brave and we are brothers in arms against the ogres."

"I think we need to go after that great stinking beast before we rest", notes Gustave, the fatigue plain in his voice. "I doubt we are safe here while he lives"

"I agree with Gustave that we can't rest in safety, until that last orge is removed. We need to organise ourselves well so no more die this day", says Padrig.
Padrig also goes over to help free the chained elf.
"Your aid will be most welcome brother. I am sorry we didn't find you sooner Highbough the Cypher. I am known as PADRIG WYNNE "the Protector" and it feels good to aid a fellow elf this day, but also sad that we lost many in battle this day", speaks Padrig.
"Do you know of any others still alive down here?", asks Padrig.

Before Pelenwin can cause untoward harm with his mace, Ulric and Padrig quickly examine The Cypher's bonds. The manacles turn out to be the simple mechanical type -- and half a dozen turns of a petulant and rusty wingnut by each of the captive's wrists widens the gaps sufficiently for the old Elf to pull his chaffed and sore hands free at last!

Andaros and Gustave -- even after Pelenwin takes back his long coat of chainmail, his helm and other gear, there is still another large, closed chest that remains unopened...

Andaros starts collecting the loose coins from the bottom of the broken-open chest, and soon finds that there are a lot more than just a few. By the time he has them all out of the heavy, broken chest he sees that there are enough to almost fill a sack...
