Hey there, cleverK! It's awesome (for old guys like me!) to see teenagers playing ODD.
Which version of CoC did you run? Also, if you've not heard of it, you might want to check out Tunnels & Trolls--it's one of the oldest RPGs, still in print by the same company, and is truly a blast to play. Back when I was a HS English teacher, I ran a weekly gaming session with a group of students using T&T, and fun was had by all. Fin, the creator and moderator of this board, also runs a T&T forum (to which I'd link, but I'm currently blanking on its name...)

I've just been reading some of the other introductions and already I can see a pattern...
I've just turned 40, I was an avid player in the 80's - D&D, AD&D, T&T, CoC, collected a whole load of systems - later tried a bit of WEG Star Wars, strayed (went to Uni, tried to be grown-up), now I'm coming slowly back into the fold. I love reading older RPGs and many of the new clone variants (big fan of "Make mine Basic"BFRPG and S&W Whitebox - having trouble getting others to see that light), keep coming back to customised versions of Tunnels & Trolls. I don't get to play all that much. Acquired a slightly dodgy PDF copy of some of the OD&D and Chainmail rules. - Really interesting.
I could have sworn that I'd joined this forum before. About a year ago I first started reading about the Old School Renaissance - and couldn't believe that it was okay to talk about systems that were twice the age of the web. So many blogs and forums. Where had I been? Games having OGLs blew me away.
I'd had a good look and D&D3, bought 3.5, took a risk and bought 4E (utterly baffled by it). Very recently picked up some AD&D2 rules, some now I beginning to see the whole picture. Then I crawl back to my Basic set and apologise for my infidelity.
I kept wanting to write solo gamebooks (actually did write some stuff for DK/Funfax, but it's a strange story for another time), but have found drawing maps and floor plans to be more instantly rewarding, but I may try to return to the thankless solo-game pen at some point.
I sell a small number of products on DriveThru/RPGNow (also Paizo and Arima - but have less there) under my Inked Adventures brand. Product output is slow because I'm a sucker for taking requests and commissions from other small publishers (man, it's an incestuous world on the OneBookShelf sites! ) I love hand drawn maps and plans, and am trying to turn back the clock on battle-mats with computer generated graphics.
By the way - am I breaking any forum rules with my footer banner graphic? I can remove it if it's too OTT or too self-serving.
I also enjoy writing the odd jaded-with-nostalgia or gee-wow-look-at-this reviews on my blog, Adventures & Shopping and in a few other places. I sometimes try to sell piles of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks (but I suspect that the 2nd hand market is in fact cyclical...)
I am trapped in a small town in the middle of the UK.
I know that Ebay owns us all.
Designs I'm not sure of end up on Deviant Art or as t-shirts and mugs on CafePress (see my About.Me page for links) I have discovered that there is almost no profit in online enterprise, there is only addiction, validation and fame. I want to be an evil capitalist, but I fear I've chosen the wrong moment in history to start.

Bobjester here, I've been a member here for awhile, but I haven't been back here for awhile, thanks to my ineptitude with bookmarks (thanks to 18spears for the advice!). Hopefully, that will all change.
I'm a hobbyist gamer first, so while I contribute a little, I'm here for the witty RAF banter and 0e rules discussions.

Fin, thanks to 18spears for telling me how the bookmarks work here, so I can come back to join in the discussions, but a RAF banter section won't be necessary... I've just had a bit too much Monty Python.
Another of the long-time lurker, first-time poster types here. I'm a long time wargamer of the GW mould and have dabbled a little in WFRP. While I'm new to this whole D&D lark, my preferences are not new - I've found OD&D, Holmes and the burgeoning retro-clone movement far more appealing than newer rules systems. Holmes in particular appeals to me - probably the thought of a party of low-level hoods out for loot rather than heroic antics.
Anyhoo, I thought I'd finally dip my oar in to make the most of all the great old-school brains on the forum.
I am 22, and have been gaming since 2004. I started as a player in 3e campaign and played until mid 05 when my step-father introduced our group to OD&D with his white box set that had been handed down by an elder brother of his. Needless to say I was hooked by the whole lack of restriction and the just do whatever works way of thinking he ran the game with. Since then I have played just about all editions, as well as a bit of Pendragon 4th, WFRPG, Traveller, and table top wargaming. I am a notorious rules tinkerer and love the fact that OD&D allows me to indulge myself without fear of breaking the game so to speak.
@bogey: I'm pretty sure we've got the most comprehensive discussion about Holmes anywhere on the IntraWeb. If you haven't yet, check out Zenopus' website.
@arkansan: As always, it's great to see a new generation connecting with the roots of the hobby. And yeah, you can tinker ad absurdum with ODD and not damage a thing...
Just signed up. I think some of you guys should know me, but I'm a longtime D&D player. Started with Holmes basic and Eldritch Wizardry which I bought with lawn mowing money from the local KBtoy and hobby. I was hooked from the moment I opened that box.
Hello My name is Marek, I come from Poland, I live, work and study (fortunately I am at the end of this road) in Wroclaw. I was born in 1987, so probably I'm one of the youngest users here. I've been playing RPG for about 12-13 years and from few years I've been enjoying with old school. I prepare my big sandbox campaing using OD&D, in my opinion best game ever. I was collecting informations about ways of playing and mostly refeering OD&D very long; this makes it easier and now my knowledge is enought to explore mysteries of oldschool freely. It's my greatest fascination:) I am glad to be here!
