Is anyone else having trouble with some of the text on the boards, such as "Acta's" (that's how I see it) or having a bunch of "ƒÂƒÃ"s in the board description?

No problems here.

Edit: I take that back, I am. I see Actaea's name properly in doctorx's posts, but when in yours it's all funny. And I'm seeing the odd symbols in the board description as you are; I just didn't notice at first (since I always just use the "new topics" option).

Hi, tombowings. Yeah, I'm getting the same as you. It's not a huge problem as I can still follow what's going on, but we've definitely got a gremlin in the system somewhere.

Yes, I just started seeing those recently on your board. But also I had the same problem on my Hinterlands game for a long while.

I believe the problem is that Proboards has an issue with unicode characters. Anything that is not a standard ascii character (i.e., it isn't on your keyboard) gets saved as a set of ascii characters that represent the unicode character. When Proboards reads that set of ascii characters back (to display it for you in your browser) it isn't decoding them properly, and so you see junk.

That is is all guess work on my part.

However, when I removed "smart quotes" on my Hinterlands board (changed them back to plain quotes), the problem went away.

I suspect we are seeing exactly the same problem here.

If I had to hazard a further guess... I suspect that the "problem" text has been copied and pasted from another application (e.g., Microsoft Word, or similar) into the Proboards "post field" in your browser. This creates the problem because Word (or similar) will be using fancy character encodings for all those non-ascii characters. They will look perfectly fine in Word (or similar) but Proboards doesn't understand them properly.

The solution (or at least something to try) is to overwrite all of the problem text with plain old ascii characters typed straight from your keyboard into the Proboard's "Post field".

You could also try to copy and paste your "fancy text" from Word (or similar) into a plain text editor (like Notepad, or similar) which doesn't use unicode characters. Then copy and paste the same text from Notepad (or similar) into Proboard's "Post field".

Hope that helps some :)

I actually don't know the answer to Yngvar's question about how Iago came to be where he is.

I figured as much; I basically just decided to ask in-character instead of out-of-character, figuring our stalwart Ref would supply us with whatever info he deemed relevant. :)

I was thinking that you were caught sneaking around the Sultan's manor or caravan. The guards took you in, knocked you out, and now your participating in this little game in exchange for your freedom. You're of course free to add or modify this as you please.

It was the specifics of how he was placed on the scaffold that I was after (since there appears to be no way to get either up or down from it); but if he was unconscious at the time, that info must needs remain hidden. Must think harder...

He was unconscious, yes. Sorry if I forgot to make that clear.
