 What the Snake-Men left behind
« Thread Started on Aug 31, 2012, 11:46am »

I'm trying to get a better handle on the Snake-Dudes, potentially to put together a coherent dungeon of serpentine derivation. Here's stuff from the rituals:

complex & intricate tortures, and the 10,000gp black opal implements to inflict them

weird copperish metal that merely warms upon melting

33 Sunstones

ruined dwellings and tombs

razors of pure iridium

unspeakable mental tortures

debased sexual acts

erotic learnings, particularly of drugs

forbidden tomes

ruins

stone coffins

reputation of being "depraved"

Pyloned Hall of the Snake-Men

gemstone lamps

two artificial subterranean labyrinths

priceless gemstone knives

eldritch sigils

maroon dust

a tower (now buried); within is a "nighted mirror of polished obsidian" which we may presume is of Snake-Men manufacture

grimoires

translucent and variously-colored lenses called octacles

ruins of a sanctum, within is an "8' diameter floating disk of utter blackness" also probably (?) of Snake-Men manufacture

hieroglyphs

four circles of blue menhirs

9 small clouded glass bottles

apothecaries (now ruined), containing a root of potency

a ruined city (now buried)

A lot to work with there, including an affinity for gemstones. My initial thought for the dungeon is there are no stairs, only ramps; my Snake-Men are serpent-bodied.

I'll go through the hex descriptions shortly.

Good stuff! For me, too, anything involving the snake-men always spirals around the fact that they CREATED the humans in Carcosa as a vehicle for their rituals...

It's getting difficult to remember the last time I completed something I talked about, so don't hold your breath. But I like the offer!
