Zulayman grins at Yusuf. "A familiar face at last!"

The Moor's mood changes as he looks at the now hacked up bodies. "In God's name, let us do something with the corpses, so the carrion birds do not feast on them. "

With a disdainful look on his face he bends over the corpses to retrieve weapons. "There is no need to leave these to be used against us should they rise again." he explains.

Pausing to look at Jochi, he says, "I know not these Hungarians, either; but if they oppose you, then I shall oppose them as well."

Rising he adds, "Yusuf and myself were of a party that were attacked perhaps a mile or so from here, to the south/southwest. Avoiding that area, if possible, may be advisable for now."

"But this tower sounds interesting; does it have any significance other than loot?"

"Look where the sun is in the sky. We bury the dead. We take the rope hanging from the barn roof. We ride, non?"

Jacques seems agitated.

Yusuf notices Jacques agitation adding, "You ride, I'm afraid for Zully and I it will be 'shank's pony' for we have no horses to ride...but yes, we should be on the move, I think, too."

Zulayman nods concerning the horses then adds, "There is something further to consider. During the battle I heard talk of fire arrows. If we encounter more undead, fire may prove to be a useful tool."

Stroking his beard, he continues."My former group did not enter the encampments I understand to be nearby. Perhaps the local tribesmen have oil or pitch with which to construct such weapons?"

After waiting a moment he continues. "There is also this to think on. The pagan ancients knew of a substance called Greek Fire. It is a magical substance that burned even in water."

"Sadly few living men know the secret of Greek Fire, but perhaps we may make a substitute. Lamp oil, or the strong alcohol the Franks often imbibe, placed in a bottle or small amphora may be utilized as a weapon. With the application of a simple cloth wick and fire, the bottles couild be hurled at creatures such as the giant. This application of fire would quail even the flesh of a non living creature I think."

Zulayman pauses, waiting for the others to speak.

"Jacques is right---we waste light standing here," says Romeo. "What matters burial if none of us is a priest? Leave them where they've fallen and let's move on. And the Turk makes a good point, one ignored during the fight---fire is a sure weapon against dried and shriveled flesh, whatever source the spark that animates it. We need to make ready what fire we have, and those with bows need to be ready to use it."

OOC: If Jochi's handed over the parchments, Romeo will try to make sense of them.

"The dead lying there have cloth on them that they will never need again." Yusuf says, "A copper on their eyes and putting them under sand and rock to protect them from yon vultures is all the payment they would require."

OOC: Yusuf will attempt to bury the dead...it is the *right* thing to do, but if there is no objection from the others, he will remove cloth from each that can be torn into strips to be wet with oil and wrapped around arrow heads for the requested "fire arrows."

"And then, if we do not explore that building over there, I think we should move along."

While the others are busy arguing over what to do with the bodies or examining the things that Jochi brought back from the barn Iseul will discreetly grab Nestor's purse (ooc: rolled 4 on a stunt roll). He won't bother with Karl's as he knows that it's empty.

Leopold reminds everyone, that Karl's and Nestor's horses are now riderless, so the newcomers need not walk if you decide to move one. There are also the two camels, Romeo's "Caesar" and Seamus "Argh! Yer Bastard!".

Jochi opens the heavy pouch and finds that it contains 176 octagonal gold coins with unfamiliar markings.

The papers are written in the same script as the scrolls in the temple. Zulayman finds that it resembles an ancient form of Arabic and is able to translate some of the words.

All the papers concern farming and bookkeeping. Whoever wrote them kept everything in diligent order. Every thrall, ounce of grain and piece of equipment seems to be recorded in the neat tables.

There is also a crude map depicting the lots of land in this area. According to the map the desert north of where you are now, was once arable land and covered with fertile fields.

Yusuf and Iseul find ample amounts of cloth in the bedrolls of the deceased. While Iseul prepares a supply of fire arrows [deduct one flask of oil], Yusuf sets to work with the burial. Both are finished an hour later.

[Iseul succeeds in pocketing Nestor's purse. If there is something on the dead that you want to keep, now is the time to announce it. Remember to record any new stuff on your character sheets.]

"Thank you Iseul", Yusuf says as he begins stripping the clothing from the bodies, "This one had a coin purse."

Yusuf straightens up and shakes Karl's purse, "Empty by it's heft and feel, poor man."

Glancing over at Iseul he asks, "What about the other fellow? Just as poor?"

OOC: Yusuf has no idea that Iseul might be robbing the dead, he's just asking an innocent question. :)

"I will take these rations and water." Yusuf points to the items of Karl's, "And his dagger. Perhaps I can use it in his honor one day."

"Does anyone object?" Yusuf says looking around.

[Yes, since he stole it (I expect his comrades will give him a sound thrashing if he ever gets caught ;)), but XP is only tallied when you reach safety.]
