OOC: Har. Sleep deprivation. I read for that twice and didn't find it. Turn post stands otherwise though, thanks! Although, if Trolls regenerate, and if Soval notices, and if he has any idea what is going on when he notices, emptying out the oil in his lantern on the restitching corpse would probably be his next plan. Lot of ifs there, though.

Eohild the spear-maiden, looks around for the next troll to spear, and charges in. She has come along way to be here, and a smile of satisfaction appears on her face.

Lomeluin, Telthalion and Legandir all loose white arrows at the leading Troll as it emerges, rampant, from the darkness [1d20=16,17,8] and only Legandir's missile is turned by the monster's scaly hide. Lomeluin and Telthalion aim true for [2dd=3,4 and 5,5] 4 and 10 hit points, but the monster rushes onward, enraged!
Ardenbard and Celglin withdraw, perhaps wisely, as Vestri and Hepti also make nervous steps away from the fighting. Ardenbard instructs his Man to take up the offense as he seeks cover...
Meanwhile, initiative is rolled for those already engaged [1d6; Elindir=6+1, Dernfara=6, Eohild=6, Dalain=2, Sili=4, Norin=3,Troll=6]
Elindir's blade flashes like lightening [1d20=4] but deflects without harm. A moment later Dernfara and Eohild of the Rohirrim thrust with their spears at the same time the Troll thrashes back at [1=Elindir, 2=Dernfara, 3=Eohild, 4=Dalain, 5=Sili, 6=Norin; 1d6=2] Dernfara, bellowing mightily in some unknowable tongue [1d20=5,4,7], but all is in vain. Then Dalain, Sili, and Norin repost [1d20=7,11,14], with Norin making crushing contact with his war-hammer for [3dd=5,5,2] for a mighty 12 hit points. But still the horror is not slain!
Now Soval Hackbeard, hero of Swanfleet, comes. He leaps wholly into the fray, his lantern swinging wildly in one hand, and his hard-edged sword driving down through a deadly angle in the other! He flank attacks [1d20=8] and punches a savage wound through the monster's scaly back. Black blood is flung wide as [2dd=5,4] he drives the sword deep for 8 hit points, severing the monster's thick spine. It squeals appallingly before Soval rips his sword free, and then it collapses to the flagstones in a thunderous heap.
Nearby Lomeluin and Telthalion find themselves withdrawing at pace as the new enemy disgorge from the dark passage -- at least three more fearsome Trolls come! Some of these with grim helms and mail for protection.
Adrenbard's Man, Nat, has been ready on the haft of his hand-axe -- searching for a target -- and as the reinforcing Trolls bursts into the chamber like a herd of charging bulls Nat flings his missile without hesitation [1d20=11] but it deflects from the Troll's back without injury.
And then the thundersome Trolls are among the company!
Lomeluin scarcely stays clear of the first monster's reaching grasp, but poor Vestri the Dwarf is not so fortunate! Only dumb luck [1d20=1] saves him as the second Troll's great helmet falls over its eyes just before it is about to tear him apart. Instead its enormous claws tear up the massive flagstone beneath the terrified Dwarf's feet as he beats his retreat!

Feeling unusually empowered by the force of his last hit on the first troll, Norin charges at the nearest troll still living (#4) and, again, swings mightily!

Lómëluin will attempt to dart past the charging Norin, then fall in behind him and Soval's advancing wall of polearms, sending arrows into Troll #4 as fast as he can fire them, assuming there is no danger of hitting his allies. (Otherwise he'll shoot at any other Troll he can target safely if his preferred target is obscured).

Unless he sees trollflesh stitching itself back together, Soval cries out in glorious exaltation. "See, men! Though these monsters look terrible, they can be slain! Come, to battle!" He will step over the fallen foe en route to Troll 3, ready to slash, beard flailing before him.

Telthalion, retreating, and Legandir both loose arrows [1d20=18,11] at the oncoming Troll, distracting its pursuit of the nimble Lomeluin, who shoots instead [1d20=15] at the brute behind.
Telthalion's and Legandir's arrows sting for [2dd;3,5 and 1,1] for 5 and 2 hit points, Lomeluin's for [2dd=4,1] 4 hit points.
Sili attempts to reach his fellow Dwarves, but before he can cross the field to them, the enraged Trolls meet him, Elindir and Soval shoulder to shoulder in a brutal melee.
The lesser Troll (#3) with two arrow wounds crashes into the pair of Rohirimm spears, as the greatest of the brutes seen yet (#5) -- draped in ragged mail and a wearing a huge, spiked helm upon its misshapen head -- looms up to challenge the formidable line of Norin, Elindir and Soval.
Initiative is rolled [1d6; Norin=4, Elindir=4, Soval=6, Troll5=2]. Man, Elf and Dwarf prove quicker than the great Troll, and all strike first [1d20; 1,19,4] but only Elindir pierces its hard carapace dealing a [2dd=6,1] 6 hit point wound.
At the same moment Sili, Dernfara and Eohild give battle to the other Troll. Initiative is rolled [1d6; Sili=3, Dernfara=5, Eohild=5, Troll3=1] and again the heroes are too quick for the dull witted Troll [1d20; 8, 4, 2] but all their attacks are as nothing, deflecting and glancing away from its thick, scaly hide as pebbles upon a wall. It counters with is a staggering blow [1d20=16] that smites [1-2=Sili, 3-4=Dernfara, 5-6=Eohild; 1d6=3] Dernfara for a punishing [4dd=3,6,3,6] 14 hit points -- smashing his wooden buckler to splinters and dealing him 8 hit points of damage.
The greater Troll targets Norin, who has foolishly over extended himself (attack roll of 1) [1d20=6] but even so, his trusty Dwarven mail ablates the most part of its mighty fist blow.
Meanwhile, Hepti and Vestri turn and flee ahead of the third Troll (#4), as both Hallam and Nat bravely fall upon it from either flank.
[1d20=17] Alas for Vestri! The Troll tears him down from behind with ugly black claws that dig through rock -- rending the Dwarf three deep, bloody scourges for [4dd=5,3,3,2] 8 hit points, slamming him to the flagstones with a squeal. His torch clatters to the floor.
Now Nat and Hallam attack with flail and sword [1d20=12,13] but neither can piece the monster's mail nor hide!
--
Vestri is incapacitated on 0/8 hit points. Dernfara is on 11/19 hit points.
