Black Blade to carry S&W Quick Start, Ref Sheets
Ye Olde Games and Black Blade Publishing are pleased to announce that, effective January 1, 2010, the Swords & Wizardry Quick Start book and the Swords & Wizardry Core Rules Reference Sheets booklet, developed by Michael E. (“chgowiz”) Shorten and produced by Ye Olde Games, are now available through the Black Blade Publishing online store.
The Swords & Wizardry Quick Start book will get you started in a fantastic world of adventure and danger using the Swords & Wizardry Core Rules. The Quick Start is meant for first level play only and is a fantastic way to introduce someone new to role-playing or the "old school way" of playing fantasy role-playing games. It contains everything you need to play:
-- Character creation -- Play and combat rules -- Game Referee Guidance -- A complete adventure - The Dungeon of Akban
The Swords & Wizardry Core Rules Reference Sheets provide ready access to the charts, tables and summary information for a Game Referee to run wilderness and dungeon adventures. No need to flip through a rulebook when you can have all the information you need in an easy to use digest format!
These sheets, formatted for convent digest printing on 8.5x11 (US letter) paper, combine existing Open Game Content from Swords & Wizardry Core Rules - 3rd printing, David Bowman's Monster by CL lists, and brand new content for wilderness encounters and revamped Treasure Generation tables. The PDF also includes basic booklet printing instructions.
This accessory is inspired by the set of Reference Sheets that came with the original 1974 fantasy role-playing game. List of tables included:
-- Class Info/Statistics up to 10th level -- Attack Rolls for Characters and Monsters -- Basic Equipment List (including weapons/armor) -- Movement Info -- Turning Undead -- Cleric Spells -- Magic User Spells -- Hirelings -- Monsters (all from Core Rules plus a couple of new monsters) -- XP Values by CL -- Monster Dungeon Encounters -- Monsters by CL Levels -- Wilderness Encounters (new content) -- Wilderness Encounter Types and subtables (new content) -- Treasure Tables and Generation (revamped/simplified/clarified)
The Swords & Wizardry Core Rules Reference Sheets are available in e-book format (pdf) and in printed format through the Black Blade Publishing online store:

I'm really glad to be working with Jon and Allan. These guys surprised me when they asked if I wanted to work with them; of course I said Yes! They're the kind of small business that has that DIY attitude that makes the S&W community thrive. I'm sure we're going to do a lot of great things in 2010!
Just been looking to download the quickstart but it seems to have disappeared. Was it withdrawn along with the rest of chgowiz's stuff?
Yes, at chgowiz's request, all of these titles have been pulled from the Black Blade store and are no longer available for sale or free download.
It's too bad as the Ref Sheets are a great tool for running games. I'm hopeful that chgowiz might change his mind and make these titles available again, someday.

I'm working on a set of ready reference sheets for S&W. They will not be a copy of Chgowiz's work but they will be patterned after the reference sheets from the OD&D boxed set (as were his).
They will be available in PDF, digest-sized, in two formats: one for reading and one for printing.

Glad to hear, Piper. It seems Black Blade has handled the transition of S&W from Lulu quite well. I look forward to making my next S&W purchases from BB soon.

Fear not, OD&D-ites! Although we still have some things to sort through, we've reached an agreement in principle with Chogwiz for Black Blade Publishing to again be able to offer the Swords & Wizardry: Core Rules Reference Sheets through our online store.
This agreement could be completed as soon as the end of the month, removing any barriers to Black Blade being able to once again sell the Swords & Wizardry: Core Rules Reference Sheets.
I'm glad we got that figured out so you can sell them. Now if only I could get you to spell my frakkin' name right Chog-wiz... sounds like something from Tekumel. Which is awesome in its own right.
The White Box versions will be available shortly as soon as I get off of my bike. Probably not till after BBP has a little time to have re-released the CR version.
Very good news indeed. I hope the Quick Start returns as well.
Yea, see previous comment about Harley...
I haven't decided how much "exposure" I want, to be quite frank. After dealing with the legal threat bullnuts and the complete meltdown of something good, I'm pretty d**n gunshy about getting to visible. The Ref sheets are low key - the Quick Start was getting pushed a lot higher up the tree and to be honest, with all that's being released, I don't know there's a need anymore. I don't know.
Yea, still pissed with the dude that lit the match on my fuse. I don't forget or forgive easily.
