That's some interesting stuff! As a litmus test, I clicked on "God & RPGs: Are they compatible?" and was happy to see an extremely well-reasoned response.

Be Thou Exalted! for the link!

And, would you mind posting it over on the Links & Resources forum, too, so PD can do his magic?

Interestingly enough, Dru Pagliassotti (the author of "the Harrow" pages linked on the dmguide page) was a prolific contributor to the old ADnD-L listserv discussions prior to there being such thing as the WWW.

Added both the DM Guide and The Harrow: RPG Archive to "Ye Olde School Resource Sites".

Can't seem to create an account to log in.

"Log in using OpenID" does nothing so I tried to "Create Account". After filling in my info, I got an error message:

"Unable to send e-mail. Contact the site administrator if the problem persists."

I did receive an email but it was broken:

"Thank you for registering at . Your application for an account is currently pending approval. Once it has been approved, you will receive another e-mail containing information about how to log in, set your password, and other details."

Note that it doesn't fill in WHERE I registered.

So, how can I get registered and access the site?

I just read it and found it interesting. I didn't know this was still an issue in RPGs.

Well, in my opinion it is not an issue at all but the remnants of the actions of certain unbalanced people back in the day. The bible forbids usury, but I never saw any Christian denounce the Monopoly game as corrupting. Neither have I heard one raise his voice against playing Risk because of all the genocide taking place in that game.

If a religious player has real issues with D&D, and these derive from his beliefs and code of ethics and not from 1980's brainwashing propaganda; then if he wants to be minimally coherent he has to admit all gaming entertainment must forcefully abide by the same standards.

Then even Chess becomes contemptible when seen from that prism, after all they kill bishops in that game.

Hee hee.

All that hooplah, as I saw it, was really coming from the fringe of organized Christianity. The same groups that condemned Harry Potter, etc.
