Fated makes his Charisma check, improving the Crone's attitude one category from Outraged to Unfriendly.

Many decades have our lands been safe from megafauna. Now the snake gods declare war! A terrible blight this man and his thunder-lizards have brought unto the Flower of Sublime Wisdom! Atone for this deed you must, else cure your beasts I will not.

Meanwhile Breath returns to camp to share her findings. The track through the marsh reminds her of the giant sea slug she fought on the Bagel; if this hypothesis is correct, then the creature is approximately 5 feet wide when stretched and 10 feet wide when contracted.

The Dolm Crone sighs and remains silent for several awkward moments. She gropes around until her hands find a particularly ancient quipu. She runs her fingers lightly over its knotted strings and shakes her head.

She speaks again to Fated:

Perhaps there is a way... You must join the Ulfire Tribe with the Dolm Tribe and swear to protect the Flower of Sublime Wisdom as your own family. Festive has not known a man since her husband's... untimely demise. Take the vow, and I will grant your request as a gift on your wedding day.

Festive gasps and stammers, "M-m-my Crone! I cannot!" But when she lifts her head and meets Fated's gaze, he sees the hunger and longing in her eyes.

Festive remains in the village to plan the wedding, and the Crone says "Lead the way..."

Afternoon is fading to evening when Fated returns to camp, riding on Snarf and closely followed by a grass hut walking on stilts!

[Would someone with more medical expertise than Fated like to take over negotiations with The Crone?]
