Thaimos backs away, flail in hand. He will concentrate entirely on defense, attacking only when attacked. He knows his mind and his heart are not in the fight (fatigue, perhaps?), and he retreats into one of the cars. Once inside, he will lay a trap, attacking from a hidden position when one of them comes too close.

Feeling brave from the liquor in his brain, The Mirthful Doomed leaps into battle. He swings his club at the nearest white man.

From West to East, the lay of the land is thus:

Baggage cart, relatively intact, current location of the coach-class passengers.

Coach carriage, derailed and some broken windows, easy to walk past it on the North side, currently empty except the "black spawn rot" patient.

First-class carriage, overturned and blocking the tunnel, much rubble and many wounded Green passengers.

30' diameter circular area. Shaft is directly overhead. Smouldering bits of the engine are strewn about. Current location of Foreman, 12 white men, and most of the PCs.

On the South wall is the door to the control room. Nobody has thoroughly explored this room yet. It appears to house tools, supplies, and some high-tech equipment.

The track continues to the East, this is unexplored and hidden in darkness. The Foreman and his men came from this direction.

I am not an artist, but if anyone has a recommendation for easy-to-use online map maker, I can try my best. :)

Taking today off for the holiday, will resume the carnage tomorrow...

Fated to Die flees into the control room with his two slaves. Fated takes a quick look around - the thug slave is ordered to hold the door open for other PCs, but if the Foreman or any of the White Men approach, the door will be shut & blocked.

When Breath of New Moon hears someone enter the control room (she is still crouched just outside the door) she remains still, but when she hears Fated ordering his slaves around she gets up and stumbles into the control room to stand near a far wall.

Round One continues...

The White Men join the fray. Unlike their Foreman, these degenerates do not fight like trained warriors (they attack as Light Foot on the Mass Combat table); instead they fling their tools aside and fall on you with grabbing hands and gnashing teeth, like horrific Man-Apes! They completely ignore the strongest warriors of the party, and instead pile upon the incapacitated members, seeking to drag them away into the darkness of the tunnel!

Their first target is Servitor of the Yellow Sign. Blinded but hearing regained, you hear footsteps approach. Could it be your fellow PCs come to help you to safety? Alas, no! you realize as cold fingers seize your ankles and (d6 + 1 vs. blind opponent = 5+1 = 6) strong teeth tear at the weak points of your armor! 2, 1 = 1 damage is inflicted, but worse yet, their unclean bite forces a save vs. poison (d20 = 9. uh-oh).

The oblivious Shadow of the Evermore is similarly assaulted; he is groped by unclean hands but (d6+1=3) their teeth cannot find an opening in his plate armor.

Breath of New Moon tries to follow the sound of Fated to Die's voice into the control room, but is pursued by a half-dozen of the feral Men! She clutches at the door-frame but their number are too great (to hit: 6, 3) even for her great strength: she loses her grip as their bites (damage: 5, 3) reduce her to unconsciousness (0 hit points, but on the bright side you roll a 12 and just barely make your save vs. poison). Your comrades have failed to protect you and you are being dragged East into the dark, unexplored tunnel!

Round One continues...

The Sovereign Mask of All Who See retaliates with his flail against the Foreman. To hit his padded armor with your flail you roll 2d6+1 and need a 7. Snake eyes! (1+1+1=3)

The Mirthful Doomed bravely clubs at the White Men carrying Breath away, but (4+1=5) his attack is ineffective at forcing them to drop their prey.

Thaimos and Fated to Die have retreated from the battle and will not be able to assist on this round.

The Red Grat-alepranon and Eye of Thundera, your intentions for this round? Servitor and Shadow, will you lash blindly at your assailants, at the risk of hitting any PCs who come to your aid?

The Shadow, blinded and deaf and being assaulted by persons unknown, stands back up, bellows wildly, and swings his flail in an attempt to strike whomever or whatever is attacking him.

The Red Grat-alepranon will retreat to the control room with his slave. He is currently wearing armor and has his morning star in hand.

That's the spirit! You roll 4+1-1 (blindness penalty)=4 and you feel crunching bone at the end of your flail. (Those of you who can see observe one of the White Men crumple to the ground, stunned by the ferocity of Shadow's attack. Now there are "only" 11 of them, plus the Foreman...)

The Red Grat-alepranon and his slave retreat to the control room.

Fated to Die: "Undead Red! I would have preferred one of yon gentleladies to join me in here, but I suppose you'll do should it get any hotter in this particular kitchen."

*motions outside at Foreman* "Thug slave! I command you, join the battle and strike down the green brute. Make certain you shout my name as your battlecry, that these fiends know what hero has ordered their deaths." *gives thug slave a little shove*

Fated looks around the control room for anything of value or a way out...

THE EYE OF THUNDERA

((OOC: How close is The Eye of Thundera to the action?))

If there is no one in range of melee: The Eye of Thundera draws the Sword of Omens in both hands and raises it above his head, shouting in an authorative tone, "MY WHITE MAN BRETHREN, THROW OFF THE SHACKLES OF SLAVERY AND JOIN ME IN ESCAPING THIS HELLISH PIT!"

If in range of melee with the foreman: The Eye of Thundera draws the Sword of Omens and attacks the foreman from behind (or from the flank) as the foreman attacks Sovereign Mark of All Who See.

Fated to Die quickly looks around the small control room but sees no other obvious exits! A light source and a few minutes of calm will be required for a complete search. Your "thug slave" stumbles into the battle and attempts a feeble strike at the Green Man. Halberd vs. padded armor needs an 8 on 2d6, but the attack falls short (1+4=5). (OOC: should we even allow thugs to attack on man-to-man or is this table reserved for trained fighters such as yourself?)

The Eye of Thundera attempts to rally the White Men against their oppressor (Charisma check) but they are unresponsive. It appears they are completely subservient to their Master and their feral desire for flesh-eating.

You are within melee range. 2-handed sword vs. padded armor requires a 6 to hit (on 2d6+1) plus I will grant an additional +1 for the flanking attack. 3+6+1+1 = 11 and the Sword of Omens strikes true!

Damage is rolled: 10, 9=9 hit points! Your blow penetrates the Green Man's defenses and strikes a vicious chest wound. He struggles to catch his breath, but fights on.

Round One nears its end (I will allow Servitor to attempt a blind sword-stroke if he chooses, otherwise I think I've accounted for all of you?) so please announce your intentions for Round Two!

Fated to Die: "Red Thing, we have chosen poorly. Fling your oil flasks and cleanse these vermin with flame!"

*shouting to Shadow* "Jale Man, hold your weapon - I am coming for you!"

Fated rushes out to try to grab Shadow and pull him back to the room before any flasks start flying...
