There's also that Warlord of Mars strategic Game. I know there is a link to it via Gameboard Geeks.
Excellent site BTW.

Quote: Yeah, that game is a wargame but it has a lot of player type actions so it's almost an RPG. Character combat, missions, and so on.

So, was the Warrior of Mars - Gygax/Blume/'74 an OD&D supplement booklet? Is it hard to find?
Thanks.

It seems it was a miniatures wargame, independent of D&D, but with some information that would be pretty easily converted to D&D (critter wound levels to hit dice, for instance). And yeah, a limited print run of only 5000 copies before the ERB estate stomped on it means it's hard to find, and fetches a lot of money when it's found.
I've been working on a Barsoom supplement for OD&D, based on what few excerpts from WoM I've found online (thanks, Grodog!), but I won't be happy with what I've got until I can have a look at the real thing. Unfortunately, I can't even find a scan of it.

I have never seen a copy of it, but would love to. That Barsoom supplement, sounds great. I hope that you finish it soon and that we can all get a copy of it.

I would love to read this.
Does anyone know if it is available for purchase in .pdf or re-print form?
I suppose I could check my local library and see if it exists in a special collections somewhere.

You can't legally find it anywhere. It was obscure enough that no library will have a copy, and no legal PDF has been offered for sale. Remember that the ERB estate ordered TSR to stop printing and never print them again, so the only copies out there are the ones printed in that first run. That's why they always sell for $400 or more in auctions or on e-bay.

This is also likely why we'll never see a 1st through 5th printing .pdf of OD&D from WotC, alas....

Yeah, not from WotC, but I have seen a pdf of the 5th printing and since I do own a 5th printing from back in the day that is cool.
I would love to see pdfs of the first 4 printings, I have always wondered just how much change there was between the 1st printing and the 5th.

Manybooks.net's Barsoom entry (many ebook options) - while I like Project Gutenberg, if Manybooks.net has a title I prefer to download from them simply because they usually offer so many choices including custom PDF and word processor versions - currently has 5 Barsoom titles
free ERB audiobooks at Librivox - quality may vary (esp. titles with multiple readers) but they're free - currently has 3 Barsoom titles & Pellucidar is in the works - they work with both Archive.org & Project Gutenberg
Project Gutenberg's listing for ERB - includes some of the same audiobooks from Librivox but usually offers more audio formats

Hope this helps and as always YMMV. |
