Jariel pushes to the front, and he, David and Edmar shoot at the reloading berserkers. Kell starts his charge and makes it half way across. He notices four more crossbow-armed guards hustling down the far corridor towards the action.

The two sides feverishly reload. The guard shoots at the on rushing Kell and misses. Jariel's return fire is wild. As Kell nears the end of the room, an entire 10' wide section of the floor disappears and Kell falls from view! Yhency and his men pull up short, and can feel a blast of cool air from the pit. A small bit of vapor appears in the air.
Kell finds his fall arrested by a large reptile. He lands sprawling in a heap, and look up into the eyes of a white dragon, maybe 10-12 feet long, curled up on a bed of treasure. He has obviously just woken up, and seems to be a bit ill-tempered! Kell looks around, and sees no escape, and the lip of the pit 20 feet overhead!

Flandil casts Phantasmal Forces, calling up a troop of one dozen bowmen (or however many can reasonably fit in the room) who move forward from the rear of the party, up to the front rank and begin launching arrows at the guards!

Patronus rushes to where Kell fell into the pit ready to pull him out with his rope and grapple
My guys are already there, and you don't want to get in the way of our new phantasmal archers. Checking their character sheets, I see that Flinn is the who carries the rope.
Yhency orders Jerome and Westbrook to go kill the crossbowman in the corner. Yhency and Flinn drop to the floor on the side of the pit facing that crossbowman, Flinn pulls out his rope, and the two of them hold onto it as the rope is thrown down into the pit where Kell fell in. The two of them should be able to hold it steady as Kell climbs up, assuming the dragon allows him to.

Kell thinks to himself, "Oh, bugger!"
"Good morning, Sir Dragon!" Kell says in a friendly voice, "I'm sorry to have dropped in on you like this. I don't suppose you'd be willing to give me a boost back up to there, so you can get back to your nap?"
As he says this, Kell is moving away and trying to get his shield and as much cover between himself and the giant lizard.

Flandil's Phantasmal Forces slaughters the defending guards, sweeping them away. The onrushing characters peer over the edge and see Kell and the dragon. The dragon itself unfortunately does not speak! He breathes frosty frostness at Kell, who dives for cover. He rolls a 20 for his save and only takes 6 damage!
