Kelmult Dwarven Fgt-2 Olaf, the very lucky...so far! Human Fgt-2 Yusuf Kamal(Chainmail & Shield: AC 4, MV 6, HD 1, XP: 0, hp 6. #AT 1. 1d8 Sword, 1d6 Bow, 1d4 dagger x 2. Lucky Amulet, rations, waterskin x 2. GP: 0. [gold necklace & jewelry case with a few silver rings & bracelets...est. 70 gp])
Flandil keeps watch, both in the direction from which we came and the passage ahead, in case the noise of battle draws any of the curious. He does not attempt to crowd around the pit with the others.
((OOC: It seems from the description that the pit is not blocking the passageway?))

"First we need to decide if we should proceed, or take the dragon's loot out of here to a safe locale." Flandil replies.
~~~~ If we want to proceed, we'll need some way of crossing the pit... jumping may be too risky.
We could use a rope to lower ourselves down one side of the pit, then climb up the other, but I don't see anything on the map on which we can secure ropes, plus at least one person would need to jump to get to the other side first. One strong character could perhaps hold the rope to lower everyone down, jump across, then pull everyone up one-by-one from the other side (with more help as more characters get up to the right-hand side).
How rough are the pit walls, do they look like we'd be able to climb them?
Anyone have any other ideas?
The pit walls are clean and sheer (relatively); the kind of thing that only a thief could climb
While Kell is filling vials and everyone else is discussing the pit, Patronus strips off his gear and armour, gets a running start and tries to vault the pit. if he makes it he gets someone to toss him some spikes, a hammer and some rope so we can build a small rop bridge.
Patronus has to roll his DEX or less on 3d6. He rolls a 15 and falls short, smacking the wall and tumbling 20 feet into teh pit, taking 7 damage in teh process
