Brumbar and Valandil gingerly probe the flooded chamber. Once they are sure it is safe, Valandil checks for any hidden finds. While Ozmar and Moziah guard the rear, the rest of the group sloshes forward, led by Renardo. He sees that both the door on the west, and the north, are poorly maintained. The door on the left has been held shut with a hastily driven nail, and the north door looks like it has been patched many a time. Through a crack at the edge you can see that it is held shut by a bolt on the opposite side, otherwise the water pressure would burst it inwards. There is a bit of a dam up near the door, and the water is over your knees.
Who all has torches? I know brumbar has, but he is in another room.

(Renardo carries no stinkin' torch! . However, assuming somebody nearby has one...)
Renardo approaches the doors more closely, peering through the cracks to see if there is anything visible beyond, and listening carefully for any noise above that of rushing water.

Although you cannot see anything due to lack of light in the rooms you are peering in to, you can hear vague talking and laughing above the rushing water in the room to the north - quite a few people, you think.

Jaako is up to his wastewaist. The water is flowing north, so opening the door will not wash him away - if anything it may reduce the water level a bit
As for language, its sounds human, but you just hear vague babbling and laughing

((Something bizarre happened to my first post, so this is the second time I've typed this... ))
Renardo indicates for the others to retreat back down the corridor towards the open room. Once he is a suitable distance, he quietly explains what he has seen and heard to the others.
"...but since I have seen no light, they may not be human. We may be able to lift the bar by using something narrow through the crack, such as a swordblade. Or we may be able to force the door, but then we would lose the element of surprise."
"Similarly, if we open the western door, it may alert those to the North as well."
"What say you all?"
((Have Brumbar and Valandil finished searching the open room?))

"Whether friend or foe, perhaps these men will know about either the secret entrance we seek, or more about the location and activities of the were-spiders. Of course, they could BE were-spiders as well. In any case, it seems a confrontation with them is in order."

Sebastian frowns his brow and says:
"Human they may sound like, but why would people choose these dank and dismal corridors for their abode? Something shifty is happening here, methinks... I say we gain entry to the room by whatever means you deem appropriate."

Jaako swallows.
"I...I can be the one to sneak ahead and open the door, to give us time for ambush. My folk move very quietly indeed. Then, you mighty warriors, to battle!
