Gallaine calmly puts down her lantern, and stands ready for whatever happens next... (green sword in her right hand, the staff in her left).

Not being one of those who heard anything, Yhency sees Gallaine act in that manner and whispers, "What's going on?"

The door to the sand room must open outwards. Can it be shut, or does the spilling sand make that impossible?

Yhency suggests that whoever is in the front line shoot an arrow into the sand to draw the creature out. Yhency is ready with his sword to hack at whatever it is.

"Steady, lads," William mutters to his men. He gets a good grip on his mace and awaits the action that is sure to come.

The sand parts, and the top part of a huge worm, mouth fully ten feet wide, breaks the surface. The inside of it looks like a vision from hell and reeks of spice, the outside looks to be a dark purple.

Kell mutters to no one in particular, "That there worm's too wide to fit in this wee, narrow, corridor!"

Gallaine quickly judges how far away the creature is...

Presumably Yhency can't see this yet, but he hears the roar and in his mind thinks, "Fear is the mind killer".

Right, the first 4 people can see. Sean and Jorman are stout men-at-arms, but this is just too much for them. Sean yells "Let's of make a run for it!" and he and Jorman run up the north passage, away from the sand room. Kell, who might easily be swallowed whole by this gigantic worm, stands ready to cause it harm. Gallaine points her newly found staff, and a green beam comes out and plays over and around the giant mouth. Whatever she was hoping for, it is ineffective!

The worm bashes at the opening, and you see its features constrict and twist as it forces its amorphous bulk slooooooowly through the doorway. You perhaps maybe have one round left

Kell uses the dwarven axe that he found to bash the beast in it's awful head! If it swallows Kell he'll just keep whacking away from the inside!
