The torch illuminates a wet, muddy bottom. The rungs go down 10 feet, then stop. By the light of her lantern, Gallaine notices a small indentation and explores it with her hand. She pushes and a stone section five weet wide by five feet high opens, revealing a passageway

Jariel will offer to go down last and pull the boards over, otherwise we will go down in marching order, except of course Gallaine is already down so will be in the front rank for a bit until we can re-arrange in the passage.
If Gallaine desires, and it's possible, she could descend to just below the passage to provide light to those coming down until Garfund is in the passage with his torch.

Sounds good. After checking the passage is all clear, Gallaine ascends to half way up to light the way for the others.

My description was slightly off, but changes nothing. The rungs go down 20 feet. I figure if you take your time to do it safely, with all your bulky gear and the number of people you have, the operation will take about twenty minutes. The passageway itself opens up into a 10' wide 10' high passage just like the sewers.
Since my Random Encounters die failed once again, you all get down safely. The passage leads east, then does a 180 degree turn round a tight bend and heads west down an inclined passage

From his position near the rear of the party, Flandil keeps an eye back up towards the top of the well. When the party begins to move forward, he will follow suit with his lantern held high to provide illumination.

Ok, let's proceed forward in marching order. How steep down is the descent? Does it feel like we will be about the same level as before when we were under the temple?

According to the marching order, Garfund and Flandil have lights (Flandil has a lantern), but Gallaine also has a torch, so we should update the marching order to indicate that.

At the bottom of the ramp the passage continues west, but one branch heads straight north. The west passage is the damp sewers you are used to, with maybe half an inch of water on the ground. The passage leading north is dryer. Underfoot are a dozen skeletons and the rusted ruins of as many blades.
