It is mid afternoon, so William and Flandil decide to head into the city. Their directions were something like "Hang a left once you enter the gates, and walk about halfway around teh city. The bath house is right across from the King's hovel. Best inn in town is the Singing Mountain Inn, not far from the bath house. For good value, some say the Flying Falcon Inn, down near the spider temple, can't be beat"

Flandil gives Hector another 1 sp. He then informs his other comrades that he'll be at the Singing Mountain Inn, and without further delay heads into Verbosh with William to find the bath house, following the instructions as best as he is able. He will try to keep to the main thoroughfares and not venture into any narrow alleys or the like. Flandil would like to stop by the Singing Mountain to make reservations for the night first if William does not object.
William goes with Flandil to the bath house -- he really needs a bath.
"If ye be goin inta the city for the night, come back here on the morrow, as we'll wait till mid-morning for ye a'fore venturing into the city proper." Kell says, "Otherwise, we'll get lost from one another in that place and n'er find each other again."

"Well, I'm just going for a bath and to see the sights. I plan to stay here at the Goblin tonight," William says. "Although Flandil may have other plans...?"

"You must be a bard, surely?" Gallaine flatters the bartender, before placing a silver penny on the bar and delicately testing the proffered mead.
"Mmmm, that is quite... " she searches for the right term in the common tongue, "...appropriate."
She casts an enquiring eye over the lurid dancers before returning to the barkeep. "Goblins and Dwarfs, you say. That's unusual company, for all I hear. What trouble do they get up to?"
"Well, I'm just going for a bath and to see the sights. I plan to stay here at the Goblin tonight," William says. "Although Flandil may have other plans...?"
"Well, then, see you tonight." Kell says with a nod, "And I'll save you a tankard or two of ale."
With a grin and a wink he adds, "But only a tankard or two!"
Kell bathes in the cold water, taking care to wash his beard and he will wash his clothing as well. Once he is somewhat dry, he returns to the tap room of the Goblin and settles in to sip ale and eat. He'll keep his ears and eyes open for any news that might be picked up.

Zarano will enjoy a few more drinks then gain some pleasure from the dancers and book a room.

Was Zarano expecting "other company" in his room?
The barkeep tells Gallaine that dearves and goblins usually don't get into fights here, and that dwarves are treated a bit better than goblins in the city

One of the toll collectors stops William and Flandil and says in one breath an obviously well-prepared spiel: "1 copper per citizen 2 for travellers 3 for non-humans 1 copper for mounts and beasts gates close at dark" and holds out his hand. You pay the man and continue into the bustling, noisy, crowded, dirty city.
You hang a left at the first wide avenue (about 20 feet across, choked with market stalls, beggars, skulkers, the occasional guard, citizens going about their business, etc). You look for any stores of significance as you walk. You pass by a Rope Maker's shop, then bump into four burly guards dressed in platemail, with sword and shield and wearing azure blue cloaks. "Hey, watch where you're going elf", spits one of them.
