Who wants Yael as a henchman? Mechanically there is no difference (Flandil's 8 charisma and Emilio's 11 confer no loyalty penalty or bonus), subjectively, there would be a minor advantage to Flandil taking on Yael as henchman. Yael seems impressed with either PC.

Flandil will take him on, if Emilio has no objections.

Presumably you will head out in the morning.

Freddie keeps an eye out on Yael. He joins the group for supper at the inn and heads up to his room for the night. Freddie does some discrete spying but he hears nothing. Yael doesn't seem to be acting suspicious in any way.

In the morning, you will have one last chance to make any purchases or check things out before leaving town.

After about 6 hours of travel, Yael says you are approaching the dungeon. He draws the following sketch map:

You are arriving along the green dotted line (which is not really much of a trail at all). The red dotted line is reasonably established trail. The brown scribbles are areas of rubble. The grey oval is the graveyard area. The black circle is a tower on a promontory.

Yael says the entrance to the dungeon is in the biggest building. There is a pit trap in front of the doors. His party investigated the two smaller buildings to the North West, they were occupied by kobolds, but most likely have been re-occupied. The large building had a bunch of goblins (and it's probably been re-occupied also).

"Do you have any idea about that tower?", Flandil questions Yael, pointing up towards to tower on the left. "It could be a defensible position for us to rest... if it is not already occupied."

"We didn't investigate the tower. I have heard that parties that tried to rest in the ruins came to regret it. I do believe that if one finds a defensible position that it might be survivable, but the way chaos seems to work around the dungeon is just weird, but I also feel that chaos is weaker on the surface. We considered resting some distance from the dungeon, but in the end decided to return to town as our strength was too weak to consider re-entry to the dungeon. Mind that a sealed door does not always keep out monsters. I have seen spikes drop out of a door and the door swing open to allow a monster through. I would certainly never try to camp near the graveyard though!"

"Everyone Down" Whispers freddie to the group, motioning them down. "There's an orc on the battlements of the tower. If we could cleqar it out it should be defensible as I don't think orcs are fans of undead either>"

Everyone drops behind a boulder or shrub. The orc does not seem to have spotted you.

(All assuming no one wants to stand up waving for the orc's attention ;D )

Range to the top of the tower is effectively 60 yards modifying for height. That's short range for all but short bow and thrown weapons (+1 to hit). The battlements would give a -3 penalty to hitting the orc.

As you observe, you note that there seems to be at least two orcs on the battlements.

Of course you are also within sleep spell range.

Can we see an entrance at the base of the tower?

"Say," William whispers. "Does anybody actually have a sleep spell?"

You can see an entrance. It is a sturdy looking wooden door.

"I have sleep prepared." whispers Yael.

Not much of a cycle. They aren't between you and the door (they are on the roof, door is on the ground). But maybe I'm confused by what you meant.

You would be able to rush the door in one round. So if you gain surprise, you could get to the door without them seeing you. You could also try a stealthy approach.
