Thurston "Um, guys, what if these well armed and confident men just happen to be more than a match? If we have no sleep spells to cast, I'd say we are taking a chance by being overly aggressive. If we cannot parlay, let's at least try to delay them a few hours. Say we need our nights rest before we leave the mountain. Then they may pass"
"Sigh. They ain't little unarmored reptile men..."
Ivildir: " Haha come on human! Battle-frenzy is like getting drunk but cheaper and more dangerous! And if we are gonna die,at least we are doing it protecting what could have been ours!"

"Wait!" Xhul hisses, attempting to halt his comrades from firing. "We must wait for Honest John to hurl his flaming oil flask, then strike them when they turn! By Movors, I applaud your desire for blood-letting, but we must abide proper tactics!"
OOC: (If Xhul is too late, he's too late, but I do try to stop them from firing so Honest John can do his thing.)
Honest John will try to creep up on the visitors to get a better look at them. Depending on where they are now, his preferred hiding place might be the little tunnel where spiders' webs were thickest.
The seven newcomers don't look like "adventurers" in the usual sense. Certainly they have a rough and tumble look about them -- and greedy eyes -- but there's something not quite right in their appearance, as if they'd never really undertaken an expedition into the unknown before. You note that, though they carry packs, they lack ropes, poles, lanterns, and other gear you associate with professional delvers.
Your arrows fly through the air toward the obvious leader of the newcomers and catch them totally off-guard. Unfortunately, your arrows fail to strike their target, bouncing harmlessly off the stone walls of the cave. Their appearance does, however, throw your opponents into disarray. They clearly did not expect anyone to be inside the caves.

Your axe glances off the arm of one of the newcomers. He flinches in momentary pain but does not appear to be badly wounded. Indeed, the axe blow seems to have shaken him from the surprise of Dexter's surprise attack and he reaches for his sword.

While it is too late to stop the missiles from being fired, you note that the goblin has nevertheless managed to move unseen past the newcomers in the chaos. If anything, the missile fire seems to have provide an excellent cover for the goblin and he will soon be in his intended position.
