Ulric looks into the cleansed chamber and laughs. Upon hearing Olaf's words he laughs even louder.
"All clear at this end," Ulric calls back to Olaf. "What do you see down there?"
Ulric slaps Dieter on the back, still giddy from witnessing the effects of his sorcery.
"Well done Dieter, now let's make sure nothing is left to block our escape."
"Just another crypt." Olaf calls back, "Wibert has gone down another passage looking for a way out."
As Olaf comes down the passage toward Dieter and Ulric he says, "If you've cleared the room, I think we should return to the others quickly. We were hard pressed here, they may be hard pressed as well."
"If you agree, I'll hurry back to gather Wibert and Desmond and we can return wince we came."

Bah... can someone remind Desmond/Mondes to clean his 1hp wound very thoroughly when we get back to the manse?
Desmond breathes a sigh of relief.
But which way to head? Further away from the group? Or back the way we came?
Any reason why we should press on? That is more important than NOT SPLITTING UP THE GROUP?
Back the way we came. We don't know that the others don't need our help, and we have good reason to think they DO. Besides, as you say, it's best to not split the party.

Wibert, followed by Pelenwin, burst from the passage into another underground vault; the clanging echoes of battle left behind for a moment ... light of Wibert's torch. ...But between the sarcophagi are heaped and stacked pots and coffers of coins that glimmer in the torch light!
Wibert stops in his tracks and graps some coins to run through his hands, keeping an eye out for anything moving around him. "What is this", says Wibert with surprise in his voice.

"Gold for your greedy paws, me thinks, my friends," begins Pelenwin, "but I myself am more interested in the sarcophagi, be they lie sleeping or unable to pass on."

The Third Vault (Wibert and Pelenwin)
Wibert enters the room and goes immediately to the nearest pot of coins and digs up a handful to let them run through his fingers. They clink and clatter pleasingly as they spill back into the pot.
"Gold!" he breathes.
Meanwhile Pelenwin examines a few of the sarcophagi. The stonework is old and worn, and grimy with old dust and lichen.
The knights graven into the stone wear an unfashionable style of plate armour, not made now for many decades. The few whose lids are dislodged, he can check without disturbing anything -- but these seem all to be empty. There are others whose lids are still sealed, however.

The Second Vault (Desmond/Mondes, Olaf, Ulric, Dieter)
After Ulric's purging fire leaves the vault hissing and smouldering, the intrepid adventurers hasten back the way they came, wondering at the fate of their less experienced fellows...
They are soon marching back toward the first vault, wherein they spy the yellow glow of illumination in the chamber at the end of the passage... this at least seems promising.
Josiane continues chanting while eyeing the new enemy shambling up from below. Does this look to be one of the zombies previously dispatched by Dorgan and Gustave, or is it a brand-new play-mate?
It could just as easily be a new enemy as a previously dispatched one. It is impossible for Josiane to see the difference from her position.

The First Vault (Guntram, Josiane, Highbough, Gustave, Dorgan)
Josiane continues to hold the enemy back with her heavenly prayer, but Gustave and Dorgan insist upon provoking them [1d20; Gustave=7, Dorgan=5] however, now that they are pushing onto the stair there is little enough room, and they simply get in one anothers way.
The foe retaliate [2d20=15,12] but their attacks are too clumsy to reach our heroes.
Meanwhile, Highbough lobs a burning oil-flask (which I will assume he fished out and ignited last round, seeing as he wasn't busy) over his fellows at the ambling corpse at the bottom of the stair [1d20=13]. The flash smashes upon the stair at its putrid feet and a sudden gush of flames goes up all around it! The thing is engulfed in fire [2d6=5,1] and suffers a horrible 6 hit points before it lurches (still on fire) from the conflagration.
Guntram observes the way back still seems to be clear... but has one of those torches gone out? The light in the ante-chamber might have dimmed...

Gustave stops to take a breather, and reassess foe numbers. He repositions himself such that he and Dorgan both have room to manoeuver atop the stair, and can fight the dead as they reach the top.

Olaf recovers his scepter as he passes through the room but he doesn't delay long.
