I will award experience points for ad hoc encounters as we go, partly so that I don't forget what has happened along the way, and partly because it is just fun to do so
Account of Combat Enroute to the nearby ruins, the party came upon a group of Goblinoids in the heathland south of Ket at dusk. 5 of the enemy were slain, and the remaining 4 routed.
Treasure Won 21 cp, A small, black iron key on a leather thong, A crude brass ring.

Account of Combat Investigating a ruined tower, the party were surprised by a Huge Spider laired in the top level. Olaf and Dieter were both paralysed by the monster's venom before it was finally slain.
Treasure Won 2gp, 9sp and 16cp, A white gold ring, A damaged argent choker, A gilded letter opener.
Award 60 XP to each of Olaf, Rodrick, Dieter, Ulric and Anwyn -- the others not being involved in the fight.

Encounter with Shambling Undead
Account of Combat In the cramped intersection passage, the rear of the party file was attacked by four shambling undead while the front of the file was engaged further down the passage. Olaf, Dieter, Rodrick and Caine dispatched the re-animating horrors, but not before Olaf and Dieter were wounded.
Treasure Won None.

Encounter with Fountain Horror
Account of Combat In the first dunjon chamber, a tentacled horror of water inhabited a fountain basin. Anwyn, Victor, Mads and Ulric dispatched the beast only after Taines was rendered unconscious by drowning. No one knows what really happened to it...
Treasure Won 11 cp. 1 small clay pot of honey. (from Hobgoblin corpses).
Award 60 XP to each of Anwyn, Taines, Victor, Mads and Ulric. The others not being involved in the fight.

Second Encounter with the Fountain Horror
Account of Combat Returning to the fountain chamber, the party discovered that the water horror at the fountain was not vanquished after all. The party decided to break up the fountain itself, and Rodrick, Crystin and Mads boldly led the charge with the others following in support. Poor Rodrick was drowned by the monstrous fiend before the fountain could be dissembled and the monster vanquished once more. Fortuitously, Dieter broke open the statue to reveal the monster's hidden treasure...
Treasure Won 35 gp, 312 sp, 3,120 cp, 14 thumbnail sized gems, A heavy silver goblet, A plain gold ring, A 1ft brass scepter, An oynx idol of a supremely fat Man sitting cross-legged, A broad belt of brass and bronze clasps.
Award 38 XP to each of Crystin, Mads, Olaf, Dieter, Ulric, Taines and Caine. Victor and Anwyn each recieve 19 XP (as NPCs).
Please calculate your own XP bonus, rounding all fractions up to the nearest whole number.
Note that this doesn't include any XP for treasure -- that will be allocated when the loot is returned safely to town and divided up.

The Game has Reached 1,000 Posts!
I was pleasantly surprised to notice that we surpassed the 1,000 posts mark since I last checked. Wow, that's a whole lot of D&D goodness in a relatively short time. Thanks to all who have contributed to the game and made it more fun for everyone. Great job guys!
Award 1,000 XP awarded to the whole group for our group achievement -- so that is 125 XP to each of the eight PCs.
(No ability based XP bonuses though -- just a flat 125 XP each)

Encounter with Hobgoblin Party
Account of Combat After emerging from the dunjon below, the party ambushed a group of nine Hobgoblins and their bold Captain as they arrived to search the ruined keep. Ulric, Olaf and Anwyn hailed down their assault from the tower-top, while the others fought a pitched battle in the courtyard. Dieter bravely engaged the Hobgoblin Captain in a heroic struggle, but in the end was rendered senseless by his foe. Ulric's sorcery saved the day when he put most of the combatants to sleep. The Captain escaped harm, and took Flewellen prisoner, while the players captured the remaining three Hobgoblin soldiers.
Treasure Won 32 cp, 2 sp and 1gp. A copper ring set with a dark stone.
Award 100 XP to each of Caine, Crystin, Dieter, Flewellen, Mads, Olaf, Taines and Ulric.

Account of Combat After seeing Flewellen taken prisoner by Hobgoblins, the party sent Mads, Taines and Ulric to parley for a prisoner exchange, while the rest of them secretly moved into a flanking position. Caine and Anwyn stealthily crept up from the rear to cut Flewellen's bonds as the talking continued, and as it turned sour the flanking party attacked. The wall of Hobgoblin spearmen almost overwhelmed Taines, Mads and Ulric before they were saved by Flewellen's magic. The remaining Hobgoblins fled or were put to the sword, but not before the Boson slew Crystin. The great Captain Bolgog went down fighting, felled by numerous hits, with Olaf landing the killing blow. After the Captain died, the Boson surrendered and was taken prisoner.
3 labourers, 4 soldiers and the Captain were slain, with the Boson subded.
Treasure Won None.

Return to Ket
Account of Expedition
Caine, Ulric, Mads, Olaf, Dieter, Victor, Anwyn and Rodrick set out from Ket in search of adventure and treasure.
En route to the nearest ruin, they soon rescued Taines from a Hobgoblin patrol, and then found their way into a dank dunjon beneath a ruined tower.
Rodrick fearlessly met his end, drowned by a Waterwierd, but the party was soon joined by Krystin an errant Knight Elf-maiden. With the water-spirit's treasure looted, the company faced more Hobgoblins at the ruin and Flewellen was captured by these as he arrived on the scene.
The company then staged a rescue, freeing Flewellen and destroying the Hobgoblin workforce that was constructing a tax-stop along the road to Ket. Woefully, Krystin was slain by the Hobgoblins in the fighting.
After overnighting in the ruined tower, the company buried the two fallen templars, and were joined by Padrig, another Elvish Knight, apparently following after Krystin's footsteps.
When the company returned to Ket to cash in their loot, they were joined by Gustave, who fetched some very agreeable prices for the gems and jewellery they had to sell.
Padrig returned Rodrick's prayer book and effects to the Temple of Thuul, while the remaining loot was sold for coin -- barring a plain gold ring and a brass scepter which were identified as artefacts of an elder age. These were kept aside, while the coin were divided among the remaining members of the company.
Award
For treasures recovered and for returning The Book of Solemn Contemplation to the Temple of Thuul;
284 XP to each of Caine, Dieter, Mads, Olaf, Taines and Ulric.
142 XP to each of Victor, Anwyn and Flewellen.
54 XP to Padrig.
42 XP to Gustave.
XP for the plain gold ring and the brass scepter have not yet been allocated.

Olaf claims the Resplendant Scepter for his own, and Dieter claims the The Ring of Gambado for his own.
With this additional treasure both fighting-Men advance to the 2nd level of experience -- congratulations eris and coffee! Olaf now has 2,006 XP and Dieter now has 2,038 XP.
Olaf's and Deiter's AC, hit probability and saving throws are all improved by 1 chance in 20, and they also have an additional 1d6+1 hit points.
I'll be re-rolling everyone's hit points when the company next sets out from Ket.
Account of Combat Sheltering from a chill night in a boggy copse, the company were rudely awoken in the middle of the night and beset by a terrible Swamp Shambler. The 8ft tall thing seemed near impervious to harm! It nearly slew Mads in a single hit, laid Taines the Dwarf low, incapacitated Gustave in one fell blow and almost entombed Olaf within its barked carapace. Only by the concentrated effort of more than a dozen party members was it torn asunder with Olaf being exhumed in an unconscious state.
Treasure Won None.
Award 116 XP to each to Olaf, Mads, Dieter, Caine, Michele, Gustave, Flewellen and Padrig.
58 XP to each to Ulric, Victor and Anwyn.
