Highbough has returned and is eager to talk strategy with Olaf, whose strength may be diminished but whose military counsel is wise.
To refresh everyone's memory: The fireplaces in our grand ballroom and dining hall conceal secret doors with down staircases. These stairways are narrow; an armored Man cannot squeeze through (but our Elf/Dwarf/Hobbit team had no problem moving single file, and a Goblin would probably feel right at home). Below is a cluttered basement that starts out as a narrow space cluttered with crates. The far end widens into a rough and unfinished dirt cellar, and there's a shaft with a rotting ladder leading down. Dorgan flushed out a giant centipede and we retreated rather than fight; Desmond saw many holes indicating there could be a whole nest of the crawlies.
We'll need to clear out the nest, perhaps with fire, and secure the cellar so we have a staging area for the fighters to don their armor. Then we'll need to fix the ladder to safely descend to the lower level (and perhaps the dwarf can build a pulley/rope contraption to haul up all the treasure). It will be important to use both stairways and avoid traffic jams and fighting in tight quarters.
Definitely think we should use our brains and avoid any sort of melee fighting against that centipede. Firebombs, arrows, even buy some spears to keep the 'pede out of paralyzing range.
Get him some brick and mortar and Dorgan can seal up all of those holes.

I believe Ulric is not currently with the rest of the group, but selling some items may be an option to raise money for Olaf's restoration. Ulric does have a potion which may generate a good amount of coin. He is Neutral but owes Olaf from more than one occasion since the very beginning of this game. The basement may also turn up some items worth some money. We may want to delve there first.

I have thought a few times that Dieter leans toward Lawful alignment (rather than his stated Neutral). This would strongly support that case...
I still see it as Neutral, i.e,; selfish. He knows Olaf, has stood beside him in battle. Getting Olaf back on his game means Dieter doesn't have to carry as much of the load.

However, I can see how you'd see it that way.
(Maybe I'm interpreting Neutral wrong?)
There is no "wrong", as you know. This is all one big grey area
Perhaps, as a neutral, you would be prepared to cough up as much as any one else in the group does (for the above mentioned selfish reasons)?

I will provide a detailed account of each individual's funds after work this evening so that you can each determine your pledges.
I believe (from memory) that there is a sack containing ~250 silver shillings in Wibert's room which the neutral party members would have no qualms about "borrowing", although the lawful party members would have it returned to his family (wherever they might be).
Pelenwin (from memory) was essentially skint, although he did have a valuable prayer book. Again, the above alignment responses would apply.
Moreover, the group jointly possesses several objects of value.
Olaf himself possesses the Resplendent Scepter, which itself would make a worthy "donation" to the cloister.

Yep, I was thinking about the Scepter. The "evil undead" sure didn't like it, so maybe the "good Sisters" really would. I also think we could get a quest of this from the Mother Superior as well, quests are always a lot of fun.
