I still haven't decided whether "Fair" is an honest title or a pejorative. Maybe he's "the Fair" because he makes such lopsided, advantageous dealings for himself. Or charges "Fare" for favors--a mercenary after Angel Eyes' own heart.
Mads also has descent int--he'd rather not be at the forefront of something that could be... risky. Especially in a tavern with so many unknowns.
OOC: I'm assuming we have enough money to cover the 45 silver? Ulric can throw in 20-30 if need be, assuming it is an investment that will be repaid.
Since Ulric did the negotiating, and most of the party are near-broke (except perhaps Victor and Eris), I will assume (for now) that Ulric has purchased the map from his own purse. This leaves him with 5 silver and 12 copper.
If others are willing to contribute they should repay Ulric. Otherwise, Ulric could reasonably expect first pick of any loot won...

Erm . . . I think you subtracted the map price from Ulric's starting money, not his current money (shown in the "Cast" thread). Victor suggests that he go in for 25 sp and Ulric go in for 20 sp, and they can even up later if for some reason they don't find a horde of treasure that makes 5 sp seem too petty to worry about. The rest of the group has spent equivalent sums on useful crap like torches and crowbars and shovels, so that can be their contribution.

I double-checked the PC creation thread and found that Ulric (very fortunately!) began play with 14 gp, 15 sp and 26 cp. After acquiring his staring gear he had 6 gp, 14 silver, and change.

Very well. Ulric has also agreed to pay 20 silver:

That was before I finished purchasing equipment (Ulric is a well-armed magic user). Before buying the map he had 2 gold, 12 silver, and 12 copper. That leaves him with 4 silver and 12 copper after the map purchase.
