I played it once as a kid. Lost my bearskin and had to eat iguanadon eggs for punishment. Bad memories!

Stonepunk? What an odd concept. I like the general notion that it can be played with little stones and such, but I'm not sure I can relate to the overall setting.
On the other hand, we had a couple of fun games of Og in our group, so I suppose anything is possible.
But Stonepunk ... ?

I like the concept, but I'd have to learn more about the rules, and a game without dice, but rocks! WTF!
For that hideous din, Rosenblum should be stabbed repeatedly in his body with a Clovis point. Gah!

I think the whole Stonepunk thing is rather tongue-in-cheek, though I could be wrong. But the Habilis system?? C'mon! That's pure genius!
I do admit to a weak spot for "re-imagined rpg origins"...

Is there a link for info on the rules system? A short video alone is not a good way to get investors excited. Investors require full disclosure.

I played Cave Master with Jeff Dee and Manda (a contributing artist) at the Dragon's Lair here in Austin on Free RPG day. It was a blast! A small group of Neanderthal-types successfully foraged some food and put the smack-down on some ill-tempered pigs. This game is played with a simple map, you could even draw one in the dirt with a stick; and some rocks instead of dice.

I didn't play it, but several people who did play it told me it was really good. It's not something I'd likely even try out, not being much of a gamer outside D&D, but people who actually played it seem to have really liked it quite a bit.

How does one use rocks instead of dice?!

You split your rocks (given for level and skills) into two piles, one for each hand. The referee (or opponent) does the same, you pick which of your opponent's hands are played. Number of rocks are compared with more rocks being better.
Easy as pie!

I've recently discovered that the dried husks of hickory nuts make for perfect randomisers, but I'm still experimenting to determine if they randomise like d6s or not. Just because they are cavemen doesn't mean that they are only permitted to make use of lithics. What about botanicals? Hm?

Hickory husks? No way, man ... that completely changes the feel of the game! You have to use rocks to kick it "old school"! (chuckle)
Besides, if the ref blows the call you can throw the rocks at him.
