 Sham's D&D Cover to Cover
« Thread Started on Nov 6, 2011, 1:49pm »

Some people here might be interested in this...

I just finished reading Sham's wonderful D&D Cover to Cover series of blog posts (on the 3LBBs). I put together an annotated index here:

http://untimately.blogspot.com/2011/11/shams-cover-to-cover.html

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he got through TU&WA, but nonetheless it is still a great series of posts. I'm sure lots of people here have already seen it, but if you haven't it is worth your time.

Thank you very much for compiling that. It's so useful I've bookmarked it. ;D

One of the weaknesses of blogs is that interesting posts can drift and get lost and they aren't easily navigable. So this is a nice effort on a worthwhile blog series. Well done.

I actually lost steam with that series very early into Vol III. Lots of good stuff in that last book that is still crying out for a read-through. I have a half written post or two on my old computer...no plans to pick up where I left off just yet though.

I've said before that the best parts of that series were the reader comments.

I'm glad it's useful to others as well. Staples over at Grognardling called this an exercise in blog archaeology, which I think is a good way of putting it. There is such a wealth of info out there in OSR space.

Prompted a re-reading from the beginning of the blog - good stuff Sham! I became curious while reading if you were still playing very much, and how the Meetup stuff played out.

[OD&D] doesn't borrow from other genres, it follows other genres into alleys and mugs them and goes through their pockets for loose ideas.
