 The Valley of the Pharohs

Has any here tried this game from Palladium? It can be obtained for free at this LINK. The game is very simple (ruleswise) with only 18 pages of hard rules and another 32 pages of campaign material. It also has some great visual aid material as well. The rules aren't perfect and need a little DM TLC. It is worth a look. My son and I are going to try a short adventure of it tonight if all goes well, I'll post my observations.

I've downloaded it but never played. Let us know how it goes.

Nothing to report, game got scrubbed because I forgot it was the Boy Scouts pack meeting tonight. We have rescheduled for Sunday night.

I haven't played it, but it was good campaign inspiration (as was their big illustrated book on weapons and armour).

One thing I found is that the feel of the game is very reminiscent of OD&D in that the rules are simple and much is left up to the DM to rule on.

Wow. Great find Stonegiant, and thanks for sharing.

Other than OD&D though, after skimming the rules, I find it to be more like BRP, which is okey-dokey by me.

There's a "trap" in the Call of Cthulhu adventure, The Masks of Nyarlothotep, that can send the investigators on a one way trip back to ancient Egypt. Now, I won't have to reinvent the wheel if the trap is triggered! :)

I definitely see the BRP connection as well, I guess one would say that this game is almost a half way point between the two.

Wow^2. Thanks for posting this, and kudos to Palladium for putting it out there for free.

Now all I need to do is dig out my copy of Ancient Evenings by Norman Mailer, my 2 vol. Budge Hieroglyphic Dictionary, and I'm ready to go! :)
