Fantasy74 Publications is now accepting contributions for Revenant Runes, a parchment-bound, digest-sized supplement for fantasy roleplaying! If you're a fan of the original fantasy RPG in it's original format, then this is for you!
We're especially interested in good concepts for:
- equipment, magical and mundane - spells - monsters - treasures & magical artifacts - tricks & traps - mini-adventures, especially site or open situation-based (no railroads!) - cool new ideas for gaming, worldbuilding, encounters, etc.
Ideas are more important than game statistics – we can help with those. There's no harm submitting something written up for your favorite game system, but an excellent paragraph or two or an evocative picture (or both) is just as good.
We are also interested in hearing from artists who might want to contribute old-school B&W line art to the product. These are some style models that especially appeal to us: Liz Danforth, Frank Frazetta, Morno, Erol Otus, Tom Wham.
This not a big-budget production and Fantasy74 Publications is not paying for submissions at this time, although you will have the glory of seeing your name in print and the satisfaction of helping to keep old-school gaming alive. However:
- All contributors will be fully credited in the product.
- All contributors will retain full rights to their submissions. This means that if you decide you want to use what you submit later for an OGL, OSRIC, or some other licensed product, or to put it into your own fantasy game system, you can do that, no strings attached. All you are giving us is the right to use your idea in Revenant Runes and to continue republishing it there for as long as we keep the book in print. This policy very much includes the art and adventures.
Fantasy74's staff has previously published gaming and non-gaming material in other venues, and includes personnel with professional layout and editorial experience, so you can be sure that your submission will wind up in a quality product.
Please contact calithena@gmail.com with all submissions and questions. Fight on!

Cal, have you had any responses to this? I've got an idea for an item that would probably only take a page or two.

We've gotten a few, but there's still plenty of room, and I'd LOVE to have some submissions from you, jreints! Rengate and I aren't going super-fast because we're both in busy times at work, but the project is happening, so send it along when it's ready!

There is good stuff - including yours! That art is perfect and the mechanics are super-nifty, so I reckon we'll be using it. Thank you!

Hi Kesher! Good to see you here.
My partner on this project sort of vanished after leaving me with some very good stuff. I haven't been as diligent as I might have been either. So, I need to find a new motivated partner, or decide to do it myself. Haven't decided how to move forward.
However, I'd love to see what you've got...

Cool. I'll transcribe from notebooks in the next few days and send some stuff your way. Depending on what you had in mind, I might also be the motivated partner you had in mind, but we can chat more about that by email.

I think it's going to be OD&D-only, although EPT is so close that some stuff (spells, monsters, adventures) would be welcome - we could make it fit.
I'm also thinking that it's going to be a series of smaller releases instead of a large one. With certain parties no longer available to help I had thought this project might just die, but I'm seeing so much enthusiasm that I don't really want to let it go just yet. So I'm mulling over my options...

Ditto; I have buckets of EPT stuff either written or in various stages of completion, just let me know what you want and I will convert it to OEPT and send it to you.

Perhaps these ideas could be the foundation for an OD&D fanzine instead of a supplement. Spread out the material, publish something every couple of months.....

I've been thinking that same thing today, Fin. It also takes the pressure off in some ways to think of it as 'just a fanzine' or whatever.
I think I'll post about this in a little bit, in a new thread.

Do we have an adventure scenario yet?
I'm thinking of typing my dungeon I made for a CON, or an article (or set of tables) to create Battle Robots for OD&D.
What should be better?
Also, would you like me to write a "DM's Challage"?
