Heya. I have the Tita's compilation "The Best of the Journal: The Pettigrew Selections". It has a neat article about underworld generation and contents. However, there seems to be a missing table!
After you determine how many structures (self-contained locations) are present on a given level of the underworld, you are supposed to roll a 1d20 and cross-index that roll with the level of the underworld to determine which structure to place (so if you had 7 structures on a given level, you'd do this 7 times, etc.). But this table appears to be missing!
Does anybody have this table, or know how to get it?
Thanks!

I just posted it about that very thing on my blog, a critical table to go missing.
As a sidenote I love this subsystem it produces some highly satisfying results that you don't get in other dungeon generators.

I've been eyeing this at Tita's for a while. Is it worth the Kaitars?

Overall I'd say it is. To the best of my knowledge (based on an article I can't find at the moment, so I may easily be mistaken) Mr Pettigrew was writing from well outside of Professor Barker's groups, so if you're a real stickler you might grumble that his Tékumel isn't "authentic", but if you're more interested in playable content than only using materials from one source "The Pettigrew Selections" has much to offer. The booklet (which is a little cheaply produced, with rather low-resolution scans of illustrations, but does have very clear and readable text) contains these sections:
Tauknélin Zu'aryal: A Thousand Flowers - fairly short piece about an artform akin to origami. Marching with the Ever-Glorious - advice, tables and events for running a military RPG campaign. The High Seas of Tékumel - similar material but for sea-borne adventures. The Underworlds - which sparked this thread, all those years ago . A detailed but not overly intricate way of making fairly coherent underworld settings. New Magical Items for EPT - the least interesting part of the book for me, a pretty typical selection of the sorts of magic items listed in every RPG magazine of the day. It's not poorly done, but personally I've very rarely used such material. The Hirilákte Arena - charts and rules for rolling up arena combatants and betting on the fights. NPC Personalities for EPT - charts and rules for adding personality traits to NPCs to make them a little more varied. Quite handy.
Most of the pieces follow a similar format, with multiple charts and brief rules for using them. On the whole I think they work quite nicely to produce interesting and coherent results. The problem with charts and table is often that the results from one gel badly with the next, which isn't often the case here. If the contents sound like they cover any topics of use to you then I don't think you would regret buying the book.

I would agree with Bigjackbrass about this product. A really decent set of selections.

I've never heard of this--it sounds awsome, especially the oragamish thing. I love bits like that about gaming worlds...
Oy, just went to Tita's House of Games...curse you all...now I want to run Tekumel...

I bought the Pettigrew Selections, Jakallan Intrigue, and Tomb Complex of Nereshanbo recently from Noble Knight when they were on sale: pretty good stuff, although I haven't had a chance to delve into them in detail yet.
