Actæa flits silently back to the party. "Gentlemen," she whispers; "I know not what evil occurs yonder, but evil it most certainly is. I think it best to snuff it out for all our sakes." She shudders at the memory of the howl. "And swiftly."
Brennus is grateful to Actæa for her quick thinking rescuing him from paralysis; he hefts his bow ands says "let's stick some arrows in them, maybe they will chase us back to the sewer where the heavy fighters can ambush at close range."

The company moves into the southern passage, following Actæa's lead. [1d6=4] The muck on the passage floor seems to be stifling the sound of Magne, Yngvar, and Adastros's plate mail. As they approach the alcove, Actæa and Brennus ready their crossbow and bow to fire.
[2d6=4] Surprise Round!
Actæa and Brennus step into the opening. Within the alcove stands eight figures. seven dressed in grey, hooded cloaks, the other complete naked, chained to a stone slab. One the hooded men is holding a tome bounden human flesh, and another holding an obsidian dagger. The other five struggle to secure the naked man. Behind them stands a great stone statue, similar in appearance to the rotting corpses of the banished ghouls lying behind you in the tunnels of the sewers. To the left and right are two makeshift doors.
Brennus [1d20=11; 1d6+1=6] and Actæa [1d20=10;1d6=6] let their missile fly. Two of the men holding securing the naked man's chains fall to the ground, dead.
Alexandro, your journey begins here, chained naked to the a stone slab. These men have given you a second chance in life. What you do with it is yours to decide.

OOC: Do I have any of my spells prepared? And in my drugged state, am I able to cast any?
How much play is there in my chains? Enough to reach up and perhaps grab a nearby figure?
Is there anything near me? Something that I might use to pry my chains loose?
The black abyss before Alexandro's eyes begins to clear, and he hears voices, and briefly wonders what was in the ale. Then he realizes where he is at, and panic siezes him, his gut clenching. The cold iron still binds his wrists, and he remembers a howling. Mitra! Was that him?
When he hears the sounds of battle, he strains his bleary eyes to see what is transpiring. The new shapes, blurred by the drug that even now snakes its way through him, don't appear to be cultists.
He takes a bit of time to assess his situation before acting...

Yngvar will move to attack the figure holding the sacrificial dagger, keeping an eye on the makeshift doors. If they begin to open he will shout a warning to his comrades.

Alexandro twists himself on the slab, trying to grab the brazier without burning himself. He's going to try use some part of it to loosen his bonds. He also takes stock of what's going on in the room. Who are the good guys, and who are the bad? He remembers a couple of those who basely brought him low...

Boro rushes forward to attack the men holding Alexandro to the slab. "I know not what foul magics you plan, but I'll not stand while you practice them. At you demonfriends!" He then proceeds to run forward and hack down the robed men.

Magne, hearing the sounds of battle in the room down the hall, pauses for a minute, thinking he probably misunderstood the plan.
Then he rushes forward from his hiding spot and joins into the battle, swinging at anyone that isn't a member of the party and not obviously a prisoner.

Round One
Actæa and Brennus ready their missiles, able to get a shot off before the calvary arrive. [1d20=16; 1d6=6; 1d20=11; 1d6+1=4] The arrows fly true. Actæa's hits the man and with the tome square in the arm, but he lets out no sign of pain. The arrow from Brennus's bow soars into another of the hooded figures surrounding the chained man. Another down!
Alexandro makes to loosen his chains with the metal incenses bowl. Ripping it off the ground, the candle and burning leaves are tossed into the air. [1d6=4] Prying apart the chains appears to be working, just one more...and the chains slacken. Alexandro is free.
Adrastos, Yngvar, Boro, and Magne arrive. Melee ensues.
Adrastos rushes toward the figure with the tomb. [1d20=12; 1d6+1=7] A sword thrust impales the demagogue on the tip of his sword, skewered through. He drops to the ground, motionless.
Yngvar makes his way to the man with the sacrificial dagger. Yngvar heaves with his battle axe [1d20=9], but the swing falls short. Now aware of the situation, the man with the dagger slices out at Yngvar, [1d20=16] whose heavy mail protects him from the incoming blow.
Boro and Magne--whirling around in the frenzy of battle--take on the two men left standing around the now unbound prisoner. [1d20=12;1d6+1=4; 1d20=18;1d6+1=5] In less than a blink of an eye, the two cloaked figures are cut to the ground.
Only the man with the obsidian dagger remains. Your intentions gentleman?
