Did I mention fungi in the tsuru'úmikh that can kill more speedily than a flying arrow? Beware the patches of fungus, Do'olnar whispers.

We may want to move to the other side of the tunnel if, as I understand, no fungi grows there. If we expect combat, Do'olnar will throw a dagger then move aside to let the warriors past.

Do'olnar makes shushing gestures to Trinesh. Now is not the time to offer bounties. Now is the time to ready jars of oil for throwing, as he will do if he can reach one silently.

How large is the shape? Can we tell from here?

Hard to tell, but it is not enormous. It might be a particularly large man crouched down to sleep.

Hrahyosh quietly offers. "I suggest we move to the other side of the corridor. Nothing good ever comes from purple colored vegetation/fungus. Probably full of things that would shoot out and kill folks fool enough to walk through it. Plus, perfect trap for this chap to be feigning sleep, and once we get in the middle of the fungus field to start lobbing bricks or rubble into the purple stuff. Or whatever it takes to set them off..."

Or the mold-covered remains of the last gúmukh (fool) to stroll through the fungi.

I assume Do'olnar has a oil flask in hand by now.

How far does the fungus extend toward the creature?

Trinesh gets a flask of oil out to have it ready to throw or use.

Trinesh will be ready to move across the stream quietly if possible and once over downstream as quietly as possible.

Issa carefully tests the depth of the water here with her spear to see how easily we can move across.

Teregash also readies a flask of oil to pass to Trinesh. "If we are to set the thing on fire we should do it before it wakes."

If the form is a puffball or similar fungus, fire may not be what we want, Do'olnar whispers. I once saw a teqéqmu (flying, blimp-like beast) struck by a flaming arrow and the cloud of spores it released killed dozens.

So, possibly we could use the time to plan our attack? I'd like to know how thick the fungus gets as it approaches the form. While the form could be a fungus covered shape or large puffball, I'll admit there is some chance of it being a monster who could sleep through all of our approach and wake to attack us. Still, I think it more likely that hitting it or throwing oil on it will release a lot of black-lung, death-dealing, flesh-rotting spores. Any suggestions on how to go about this?
