I have a cool idea for how the various humanoids could be together. This is an idea that never went anywhere with some of the folks I game with, but I thought it would be different and fun. The setting was called "Tribes of the Broken Moon" and in essence all the PCs would be cursed/blessed/maddened by visions of a dark and terrible presence that whispered of glory, carnage, and untold wealth if they gathered togehter at the Plain of Bones ( A site holy to many humanoid tribes- lots of skeletal remains natural altarsm cairns, burial mounds etc....)and chanted certain prayers over a strange old stone altar. The visions would get stronger and stronger as they approached the ancient altar, until they all arrived simultaneously. From there they would summon up the spirit of this entity and it would essentially geas or quest them into finding relics that would bring it back to life. Well that was the idea in a nutshell. What do you think?
By the way, are the humanoids going to have an AC equal to their Monster stat AC? And will they start with weapons? The reason I ask is that seemed a bit fuzzy to me. I'm all for a weapon or two, maybe a shield, crude armor, a waterskin, and a crude sack/backpack/whatever with some nasty foodstuffs. I still want to play a bugbear witchdoctor! The character strikes me as a really scary priest that most other humanoids avoid annoying....

I added in the weapons/armor restrictions under each character class. The bigger monsters have AC bonuses. Like Ogres have a natural bonus of +2, so when they're naked they are AC7. An Ogre with chain & shield would be AC2, even less if they have a DEX bonus. Some of the other races have a natural AC bonus also.
Everyone is going to start essentially naked, the reason for which will be made clear when we get going. Humanoids do pretty well with their bare hands, but there will certainly be opportunities to jack fools for their gear, or even buy goodies (after you jack fools for their money).
I like the Plain of Bones, and might tuck it in somewhere for you guys to discover!
Tomorrow I'll pass out starting abilities and post the first map.

Chargen: I'll roll up abilities and hand them out, you select a class and take care of hp and bonus roll (if desired, you can pass it up if you like). You can swap ability points as follows: all swaps are 2-for-1, you can only raise Prime Req. ability(s) and you can only raise them to the class minimum. You are not limited to which abilities you may pull points from, although you cannot lower any ability below 5. If you select a spell casting class, we'll talk about starting spells later.
bluskreem STR9 INT8 WIS9 DEX14 CON8 CHA9

OK I have a bit of a problem. As it stands I can't increase my DEX to 13 by moving 2 points of CHA for 1 point of DEX. This wouldn't be so bad, but I need that to qualify for either bugbear class. If you will allow it then my altered stat would look like this:
STR 14 INT 4 WIS 12 DEX 13 CON 12 CHA 10
I rolled a 5 for my special and got tough guy, hence the 14 STR

Background: Ghorevek is am unkempt, golden-haired, slightly heavy bugbear. He reeks to high heaven because he doesn't care to bathe, he simply lives to hunt and eat. He has a large appetite and will enter fits of rage if he goes hungry for too long. He is an excellent hunter of game, able to set up elaborate traps for his next meal.
Strangely, he carries a ring of toe bones on his person at all times. If asked about this ring, he retorts "These toe bones from those hunted by Ghorevek. Ghorevek knows that feet and toes both prettiest and tastiest part of creature body. I keep toe bones from tastiest member of species Ghorevek kill and eat. Ghorevek have toe of human, half-elf, kobald, halfling, goblin, hobgoblin. Ghorevek want expand collection and find prettiest and tastiest toe."

I was really hoping to be able to play a free trader as it looks like a very elegant take on one of my favorite classes (the AD&D's Yakuza,) but I didn't have much wiggle room with the stats. Luckily i had just what i needed for a Foot Pad.
So I rolled, 93, 38, and 11 for languages (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2820682/)
I rolled a 6 for Bonus (Sharp Eyed,) and a 2 for HP (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2820679/)
So in the end I have: Blue Tongue Neutral, Goblin, Footpad HP 1/1, AC 8
Abilities STR 9 INT 8 WIS 9 DEX 14 (-1 AC ,+1 to hit ranged,+1 Damage Ranged,+5% XP) CON 8 (-1 HP, 65% Resurrection, 60% Transformation) CHA 9 (4 Retainers , 7 Moral)
I picture Bazhrak with a very dark, blood red, fur, hence the name. Plus it sounds cool! Being functionally illiterate isn't really a problem as Bazhrak is fairly incoherant when he is "Communing with the spirits".

Grufnorg had a scintillating intellect for a Bugbear. He was always thinking of things that the other bugbears did not. Sometimes this was a good thing, sometimes not so.
Grufnorg was not as big or strong as the other Bugbears. This was unfortunate, as his people valued size and strength, rather than the scintillating intellect of which he was possessed.
Thus, he had almost starved shortly after birth, as the other whelps in his get would push him out of the way at feeding time. However, Grufnorg's intellect helped out here, as he found that he could suckle when the rest were sleeping, and thus survive.
This changed when he and his brothers grew old enough to eat meat. A brother would say "I want that elf spleen." Grufnorg would say "No, its mine." Then the brother would hit Grufnorg, and, when Grufnorg woke up, both brother and elf spleen would be gone.
Then, one day, everything changed.
In desperation, Grufnorg had fled the tribe, hoping to do some hunting on his own, and actually eat something. He had been following a rather small human (Grufnorg felt sure that THIS creature could not make him go to sleep by hitting him) and was just about to pounce, when he was beaten to the punch by a larger human, who stepped out of the woods, pointed a sword at the smaller human and said "You're money or your life."
What happened then, marked Grufnorg indelibly and forever.
Instead of fighting or running away, the smaller human had pointed over the shoulder of the larger one, and screamed "Hey! What's that over there?" The larger one turned his head. The smaller one hit him with a stick. The larger one fell down. The smaller one went on his way.
Grufnorg's brain (remember, he had a scintillating intellect) was so awhirl with what had happened, that he almost forgot to eat the larger human. He remained in the wild for three days, thinking about what he had seen.
Then he returned to the tribe. Grufnorg knew what he had to do.
The whole tribe was assembled when Grufnorg challenged the chief. They greatly wondered at this, because they knew that a battle between puny Grufnorg and the huge chief could only end one way.
The two bugbears stepped into the center of the cave. The chief raised his warclub and began to roar. Then, Grufnorg said, "Hey! What's that over there?"
So began a dizzying rise to the heights of political power unheard of amongst the bugbears. Grufnorg refined his repertoire as well (remember, he had a scintillating intellect) to include such strategems as "Hey guys, he ate the last elf spleen! Let's get him!", and "It was like that when I got here", and, of course his brilliant tour de force "I'm sure there's some food at the bottom of the cliff. Just look a little closer."
