Does the roundhouse show signs of habitation? Is there cooking smoke or anything in the yard around it that can be perceived at a distance?

Poke looks across the bridge and growls softly. "I don't like it. Not at all. It's too easy. I'll scout ahead, and if theother side of the bridge looks safe I'll motion you over."

"Hmm, very well," smiles Roger in response to Poke's instructions. "We'll remain hidden, here. Good fortune go with you, clan brother."

Poke grabs two new spines and conceals them behind his arms as he slowly walks to and out onto the bridge. He uses whatever cover is available as he does this....

Meat walks cautiously over to the roundhouse, but after looking around its perimeter it appears harmless. No sounds can be heard coming from within the roundhouse, and it appears dark inside. The front door is secured solidly, but there is a shed a little ways around the right side of the door. The shed door is cracked in several places and sways on its hinges, making a slight squeak but not much else. You see a mechanical man of some sort, although he appears damaged, as if some great blow dented and cracked the door, and proceeded to do the same to the machine.

Roger and Octavia hang back behind the bushes as Poke makes his way to the bridge, aside from the rustling of some type of small bird beneath the low lying tufts of grass there is no real sign of danger. You can now see the Medlar clearly, its a fairly medium sized tree, long thorns, but likely not a great problem, there are even a few healthy fruits that have managed to survive the birds.

Then you sense it, a mind beneath the tree, someone is there, and with thoughts plagued by pain and confusion. Looking around you see a blood stained patch of tall grass near the trunk of the tree, and can just make out a foot. The tree is surrounded by a large clearing, with no tall trees or bushes in the immediate area.

Poke tries to focus on the thoughts and if possible send reassuring thoughts back like, "Rest, be still, I will do what I can for you." He looks at the Medlar. Does it look like it's branches come to the edge of the clearing?

Hopefully this shows up
M=medlar o=small scrub, B=bridge, R=roundhouse, f=forest, p=Path
each character is about 10ft.

ooooooooMMooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooBooooooooooooo
oooooooooo___B____________
_____________B____________

oooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ffooooooooooooooooooooooooff
ffffRoooooooooooooooooooooffff
ffRRRooooooooooooooooooffffffff
ffffRffffffoooooooffffffffffffffffffffff
fffffffffffffpfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
ffffffffffffpffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

The branches of the medlar hug tight to the tree, which could just as easily be seen as a large bush. Something between a rose bush and an apple tree of moderate size.

"Something is very WRONG here!" Poke yells back to the others. He takes a spine and attempts to hit one of the Medlar fruits to see what happens.

Reddish eyes widening in alarm, Roger begins scuttling forward, to the right and somewhat along the edge of the trees. His arms wave as he goes, one hand clutching his fragment of sharp metal.

His goal? To get close enough to Poke for assistance, but he is not eager to leave the potential for cover.

Sorry, I've started two math courses at the same time, something of a madness on my part. I'll post tomorrow.

... botched that, I'll post tonight though.

Pokes spine strikes the round fruit firmly enough to knock it from the tree, and in a rather Newtonian fashion it falls in a nearly direct line onto the being laying beneath the tree, who proceeds to grunt painfully in response, buts there is only the slightest movement rustling the grass about the creature.

Poke is about 25ft from the tree, Rodger stands uneasily at the edge of the forest near the ravine, made even more uneasy by his constant attempts to get his spare pair of arms to stop performing the ancient dance of the Macarena.

Meat stands at the southern end of the bridge prepared to leap to Pokes assistance, his sense keen, is body tensed at the ready, his slightly generous body portions making the simple rope bridge strain ever so slightly, and then the rather anticlimatic grunt from whatever creature lies beneath the tree, followed by a startling outburst.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" The masculine voice pained, and weak. "Dropping fruit on an injured old man! Were you raised by dogs?"

"My apologies sir, but something seems very wrong. How are you injured? Perhaps my friends and I can help. Is this your home?" Poke edges closer trying to see the man who has spoken to him.
