Pokes scratches an itch with one of his spines. "Ok. Lets see if I can sense any thoughts in that direction as we get close to it."

Eyes reflecting the light with a red glow, Roger looks up at his companions and asks in a growly voice, "Anyone else have an opinion? If not, I shall take a quick look, appreciating your waiting for my return."

Pokes mind moves through the plants and the labels that once identified their ancestors like a snake, but finds no thoughts in that direction.
Roger cautiously, slowly, and with great hesitation inches into the clearing. The area is clearly not maintained and plants of all different heights fill the area, growing over one another and spilling into the poorly delineated path. The noise appears to be coming from a small box, mostly consumed by the trunk of some sort of fruitless fig
The bright screen blinks and flickers with menus in the same language as the signage and labels. One icon appears to be a map, another an orb with strange shapes on its surface and some sort of red animal surrounding it, and a little box with numbered squares on it.

Fascinated, Roger tentatively pokes at the icon of the map on the screen. None of the rest of it gives him any ideas, it's too alien to him.

The screen fills with an lozenge shaped oval and a triangle with the symbols
W N<X>S E
Toward the center of the oval, slightly towards the "W" is a red dot, in the middle there is some kinda grey raised portion, and you can see the path running behind you. It leads out of the forest, past a round black dot of some sort and into a clearing, you don't see any icon you can directly recognize, or anything in a familiar language, but there is a tree shaped icon at the end of the path just outside the forest.

Leaving the thing behind, Roger carefully makes his way back to the party, on the lookout for observers or ambushes.
He plans to describe what he saw, once he rejoins his companions.

When you return to the group Poke comes out of his trance, having covered you the entire time, Olivia is still standing near the other side of the clearing keeping a lookout towards the North-East path, as is Meat, although he's looking back towards the path leading to the village.
You tell them of the box with one glowing side and erratic sounds. You explain that the glowing side revealed some kind of map. The tree icon, perhaps the medlar, lay where the giant indicated, although just outside the woods there is still that circular icon... whatever it may be.
You are all reasonably well rested from the night before, you don't see or hear anything out of the ordinary here, what will each of you do?

"I might ask you all if anyone wants to see the map themselves. Things may be apparent to you that are not to me. But if not, then I am prepared to continue on our journey."
Roger waits patiently, grooming himself absently.

"Might be a good idea." Poke scratches an itch with his plucked quill. "At least we can look for some sign or symbol to keep an eye out for."
OOC- can we skip role playing this as we know what Roger saw?

"Very well," mutters Roger, and begins his ambling gait. He eyes his new metal shard speculatively, hoping he won't have to use it in combat.

Very well, after about an hour traveling on the new road you finally reach the edge of the forest. Every few feet the ground lowers in a series of about five terraces, at its base and to your left is a large roundhouse like the sacred roundhouse of your home village, off in the distance you can see a large tree on the far side of a narrow canyon. You can make out a small foot bridge leading to what can only be the medlar.
Poke: You can't make out anything specific, although you do have the vague sense of animals on the other side of the canyon, although whether they are hostile, or simply a breeding pair of cockatoo's you can't be sure of.
In the distance between the forests edge and the canyon lies scrub-brush, and whatever small creatures can make their home beneath small bushes.

Roger looks out over the expanse, his reddish eyes glowing, his arms moving aimlessly -- except for the one holding the shard, rock-steady and held at the ready.
Rumbling a bit in his chest, he looks to the others and says, "I see no threats. Shall we head directly to the medlar, friends?"
The anthropomorphic animal prepares to do just that.

Poke eyes the roundhouse carefully. "Sure, lets go to the medlar, but let's keep an eye out for unfriendly types."
