Fur puffed out, Roger breathes heavily and looks everywhere at once. Finally he turns his reddish eyes upon Meat and the metal creature, and says, "I, too, would like one of its weapons." He crouches down and inspects it for possibilities, thinking of that knife-thing it cut him with.

"Fortunately, in retrospect, there is more than one weapon. I may also be able to use broken buts of metal as projectiles, if they can be easily carried", says Meat.

Poke looks towards the place the things came from. He is trying to see where they went- very carefully!

Octavia puts down her spear and catches her breath. Once she sees her companions inspecting the body, she picks up her bow and nocks an arrow. She will watch the surrounding area for signs of hostile movement.

"I agree. We should leave and seek the Medlar."

Once their inspection is complete, she will take point and lead the group away from the dead metal creature, towards the north-northeast.

(NB: that's the direction indicated, right?)

Sorry for posting so late, there was an impromptu trip, family illness, and a backlog of homework that chewed, digested, and spit out yesterday.

There are in fact two blades, as you work at the metal they do tear free, but whatever made them shake and saw seems to be buried deeper within the beasts body as no amount of fiddling seems to reactivate them. Many of the chips and chunks could make good caltrops, or shrapnel, although there aren't any pieces large enough to be used as missile weapons themselves.

North-Northeast is the direction the path through the forest led, you can go back to the crossing and start up the North-Northeast path, or cut back through the forest, the walk back to the crossing is a short one (5-10 minutes.)

The day has grown late, and in the true fashion of the gods the world grows dark with a slight flicker of the sky. The dim and equidistant stars provide enough light for Roger to see by, the rest of you may wish to light your Torches.

Shrugging his odd shoulders, one pair of arms wandering aimlessly, Roger nonetheless keeps the pointy blade. "Might be a better weapon than claws alone," he says fatalistically.

Glancing around at the lighting, he adds, "I think we should leave this area, then find a campsite for the night. Green?"

If it is something that can be tucked in a belt and used to cut without power, Meat will take the other knife. He'll also keep his table leg for now. He is then ready to leave the clearing, following Octavia.

Octavia pauses and looks around carefully. "Meat, Poke, Roger - going forward runs the risk of getting lost. Yet I do not think it's wise to remain where that metal monster came from."

She looks around in the area a short distance away from where the battle took place. "I agree with Roger. I think we ought to make camp a short distance away, and set a watch until morning. Roger can take the first watch; I will take 2nd watch, and then Meat and Poke. Make sure to have two torches lit, as well as a campfire."

With a nod, Roger heads back towards the path that led N-NE. He keeps taking quick looks at the piece of metal in his paw, while with another paw he gentles his wound.

"Sounds good to me. Maybe we should find some dead wood for a fire."

Sorry for posting late, I've been ill

The area is replete with old decayed, but otherwise dry, wood from the many benches around you. They could be used for firewood, as far as you are able to see by torch-light the intersection of the paths looks clear, will you all be heading back to the intersection, or finding somewhere in the woods that can be made defensible for the night?

"The intersection may bring more traffic. I think we should move some distance further up the trail, if we can. If we have a fire, it probably doesn't matter if we are on the path or not, as far as concealment goes," says Meat.

Poke nods his head. "Fire at our backs might be good for more than warming our hides." He then looks around for anything heavy enough to use for a club.

"Hm, rrr. I would be more comfortable in the woods than on the path. Fire or no."

Roger turns and asks, "When we stop, I'd be grateful for someone to help me wrap this wound."

Octavia looks around as the light wanes, and says, "Let's find a defensible position near the crossroads, but off the trail. We need to know what's around us." She moves towards the nearest likely location.

Once everyone has stopped, she looks towards Meat and Poke. "Keep watch as I bind Roger's wound."
