Based on Charisma, Rocky is the caller for this group.

Do not hate me because I'm gorgeous.

Sorry to butt in on the other party's OOC thread.

I'm co-caller in party 1. Basically, us callers make a decision to move the group forward in the adventure if a concensus can't be reached. And come up with marching order.

So if player A wants to go west, player B wants to go north, and the rest don't care, the caller decides the issue.

That's about it (so far).

Well Gus is no warrior, but he's no fool either. He will generally support any good plan. By the way I suggest that using overturned carts to funnel an attack to where the most damage can be concentrated would be prudent as well. And mind you he suggests dousing them heavily with water so the marauding little beggers can't burn them!

And you are right 7 characters would have been perfect!

The role is different in different groups, but basically, we need to move things along when we can. The caller is the person the 'buck stops with' on the player's side. It's not the same thing as a leader - the other people don't have to obey your orders up front - but when a tie needs breaking or a decision is needed to move things forward you're the one I'll ask. (At that point others need to jump up if they have strong feelings, because once you make that decision if no-one's said anything it does stand for the party.)

I ask you for decisions on behalf of the group when it's not obvious based on RP and stated actions.

It's afternoon at the amphibbos' villa. If the goblins stick to the patterns Rocky is accustomed to they'll strike at human dinnertime, a little after sunset.

Let me know where the PCs are going to be along the path through the wooded hills (lightening out and moving through tree-studded pasture as one gets closer to the village), and who's with them, who's at the inn, etc. and I'll get another thread going for the upcoming battle. Keep doing RP with the knight or townsfolk in the old thread, let's just finalize the planning here and then get going.

A quick and dirty map would be very helpful for planning! I don't think we have much time for any fancy traps, but even ropes strung across at varius heights could be used in a pinch, or loop snares or something. I think our barbarian friend would know how to rig these up fairly quick-like.

You've got a town several miles from the sea. It's in open valleys surrounded by forest, thinning out towards the south. The goblins are going to be coming in on a forested path from the northeast - ample opportunity for traps - that has no cross-paths and which degorges onto the small dirt road heading south from the Sarmis-Arys road to the sea. They're almost guaranteed to take the same path Rocky and Ivar did - there's no other remotely convenient way. There are places for small group ambushes all along the way.

I surfed the web for half an hour for a map but couldn't find a great one, the situation's pretty straightforward though. If one of you wants to hook us up that's great.

I'm pretty comfortable with the plan you guys posted in the other thread (the 1-2-3 punch with rear ambush, front ambush, missile fire from inn) but I thought we should finalize details OOC.

I'll start up the battle in a day or two unless we're in the thick of further discussion.

So, I was all set to post the goblin battle, but then I realized we still don't know who's where. Let's get it finalized. You have about 6 able-bodied villagers willing to go out and fight, and another half-dozen willing to fire bows etc. from the inn. Plus you have the knight and innkeeper, somewhat superior helpers. So that leaves you with:

Group 1 - first strike force
Rocky? Ivan? Calvin? Crater?
2 Villagers?

Group 2 - knight's second strike force
Beneiri
4 Villagers?

Group 3 - inn defenders (women and children in the relatively fortified inn)
Innkeeper
6 Bowmen
Noncombatants

Is this right? What group is Gus with? Are the rest of you all in group 1 or mixed up a little?

Let me know and we'll start. It's an ambush along a wooded road gradually lightening and widening towards the inn. The knight's men can come out at the edge of the trees or from one of the buildings near the inn.

rogatny: "Wait -- I charged the goblin leader and all 27 of his bodyguard? Single-handed? That was, um, brave of me..."

coffee: "And we recovered enough of you to bury, too!"

But seriously, we'll take good care of you. I'll be right behind you with my Cure Light Wounds.
