Iseul: "I wonder how many rooms like these there are here? That thing was pretty hard to kill even with the fire arrows. If we run into any groups of more than one of them I say we run for our lives, but for now let's check the western passage for traps."
"Yes, I agree." Yusuf says, "What I fear is getting cut off where we can not retreat...or retreat fast enough to get back *up* that rope. We need to take greater care with our explorations."
"So far this palace of death has yielded very little in the way of treasure." Yusuf says as he follows behind Iseul, "And none at all on this level...only death have we found here."

Iseul lobs a couple of heavy rocks into the flooded corridor and they splash harmlessly in the water. Judging the passage safe, he enters, only to find that the floor is missing under his feet.
Instead of plunging into the deep water the agile thief manages to pull back and stay precariously balanced on the edge of the floor.

Gregor begins to feel a bit nauseous.
Yusuf says, "I think it might be best to retreat now to our camp to rest and regroup."

"Iseul, go ahead and see how large that hole is, but then let us proceed no further now.", Yusuf says adding, "Let us return to the surface and think upon what we have found here and plan our next moves."

The hole in the corridor is over 10' deep and extends from wall to wall.
As you head back you are surprised to find a man with a horse in the room with the collapsed ceiling. Zulayman immediately recognizes him as Robert, a Norman warrior of his former group.
Robert is relieved to meet you and explains that he escaped the man-eating locusts by taking shelter in a long tunnel that led to these catacombs. He describes his explorations and Iseul adds them to his map.

Snorri, I hope it was OK to introduce your character like this?]

Yusuf was with Zulayman's group, so he recognizes Robert as well and exclaims, "You live!"
The turk adds, "If Allah wills it, may there yet be hope for more survivors from our ill fated group!"

On the way back to the room with the collapsed roof, Gregor, with the help of the others picks up and carries Rollo's body and weapons.
"Well met Robert," Gregor says to the newcomer. "It seems you have explored a good deal of these crypts. Have you found anything of note down here? We were attacked by an undead beast that killed our companion here and wounded me. But all of the coffins we have found have been empty."
"Let us get to the surface. A few should climb up first. The rest can tie Rollo's body to the rope and then we can haul him up as well. Someone should also keep an eye out for more of those mummies. I'll do that."
[Robert's horse will not be able to ascend the rope.]
OOC: I was hoping *you'd* miss that. We could, of course, kill (or release which amounts to the same thing) the horse, but I doubt Robert wants to do that...I know Yusuf wouldn't *want* to do that. The only idea I have about how to get that horse up to the next level and then up the stairs to the surface is for Robert and (some of) us to retrace his path back the entrance he found and then return on the surface. I'll propose that, but I think time may be an issue...
"I say, Robert?" Yusuf addresses the knight, "We are two levels below the surface here. The only way I can think of to get your horse up to ground level is to return the way you came and then come back to our encampment on the surface. If we do this we must hurry least we be caught by darkness."
"If anyone can think of a better way to deal with this, please speak up."
