Romeo No one stops you leaving and the fresh air outside is a big relief after the dizzying incense in the tent. The captain stands some way off and eyes you suspiciously as you walk away.
As you approach your own camp, you see that it is empty, except for the lone figure of Jacques by the fire.
OOC: Jacques has not yet noticed Romeo.
Romeo walks straight towards Jacques, with no attempt to hide the bulging sack of coins. "Buona sera, amico mio", he calls, greatsword swung casually up on his shoulder. "A fine night, even in this pesthole. Where are our companions?"

Iseul counts 20 gold coins and hands them to the French knight.
Iseul: "I wonder if we can still get some horses here at this hour or do we need to wait until next morning? Maybe we should stock up with some more rations and water as well while we're at it?"
"Once we're ready I vote we head out for the Tower of Obsidian again as it should be pretty close, only about one and a half miles further south from the temple we found."
OOC: How old did the map look? Did it look old enough to be from the Lost City or is it newer?

The Drinking Tent "Thank you kindly Iseul, these coins will allow me to settle my debts in case I do not return from the lost city!", Léopold jokes.
"Those of my comrades who survived with me, did not much care for this part of the world. They sailed back home with the body of my lord", he continues to Nestor, "I heard of your run-in with Kristof's lot, so they are out of the question. Then there is the Persians, I believe their leader is named Shaheen, he is the serious one sitting at yonder table. If they are reliable? God only knows. There are a few other non-bedouins milling about the camp, who could be perhaps be cajoled into service, but of their worth in combat I have no knowledge."
OOC: There will be no bartering for goods or horses until the morning. The map looks old, but since the leather is still pliable, Iseul doubts that it is as old as the lost city.

Karl chimes in, "Why not hire a bedouin or two to watch the animals while we explore. Perhaps the Sheik would supply a flunky or two if we offered him a half share of our proceeds. And to be safe, Sir Léopold can still watch the bedouin to make sure they don't run off with the supplies and animals."
"Also, having to retreat, each day, back to this oasis strikes me as dangerous and wasteful of our time and resources. Perhaps, one of the first tasks we should set for ourselves is find a place of relative safety in the vicinity of the city." Karl says, "A place to hold the animals and supplies, a place to which we can repair for rest. Not a permanent camp, but a place from which we could base our explorations for a few days at a time."

OOC: Looking forward to the morning, then. I'm anxious to get to some adventuring!

OOC: No Bedouin will set foot in the lost city, which is only a few hours away from the oasis. How about making up some lists of items you want to purchase, Bedouin horses cost 50 gp a piece, camels 30.

Are we going to pool our money? If so, Karl will contribute his 17 gp to the cause.
What we need:
1. Water & Food for # days 2. # horses or camels
Karl plans to look around for any sort of potion that will help the French Knight's cough...OOC: I doubt he can afford anything, but it won't stop him from asking around.

Romeo grins broadly and shakes the bag. "Indeed! After our meeting with the mago, I remembered a odd stone I found long ago, in Italy, in the house of a strega burned by peasants. I've carried it with me for years, I don't even really know why. I brought it back to his tent and la!, he laid this bag of gold at my feet. A good omen, amico."
He comes closer to Jacques, at the entrance to the tent. "But let's keep this to ourselves---I feel I can trust your word. You are a civilized man and a fellow knight, and a strong comrade in arms. I plan to raise an army back home, and carve out a kingdom, and I could use men like you beside me."

Jacques smiles, shaking his head, "Merci beaucoup... but we are a long way from Italy mon brave. I fear that every step into that accursed city leads us ever more further away from civilisation. As for good omens from Hamza ibn Nader, somehow I think not. Tonight you have been...lucky, but with his sort there is always a cost, maybe to you, maybe to us all. Anyway, I'm tired, and tomorrow our brothers wish to ride into Hell again. Bon nuit Romeo."
The Frenchman gets up from beside the fire and walks away to his tent whistling some half-remembered elegy.
OOC: Jacques will buy a sturdy horse and saddle in the morning (leaving him just 10gp) and will ask around after Hadi, when the Bedouin doesn't return to the ajami camp.
