 Michael Mornard
« Thread Started on Apr 13, 2011, 5:42am »

Mike Mornard joined Dave Arneson's Blackmoor game in 1971 (Age 17). He is the only known person to have been a regular player in Dave, Gary and MAR Barker's campaigns.

I have tried to contact Mornard through this forum, but no response yet. Does anyone know more about his involvement in the game?

I have collected as many statements from Mornard about Arneson's campaign as I could find here:

http://blackmoor.mystara.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=827

Does anyone have more they could add?

Havard, try RPG.net (old Geezer). I have contacted Mike there and he was very quick to answer my questions.

Edit: Nevermind Havard, seems he left that board a few months ago, and one of the messages mentioned something about him attending a seminary. ???

Thanks for the suggestion. RPG.net was actually the first place I tried, but his inbox there is full, so I cannot reach him there. Seems like you are right about him having left the forum.

No idea what a seminary is in this context?

I wanted to thank Havard for putting this up. I was up last night reading the excerpts over on the Comeback Inn and found them immensely enjoyable! :)

Seminary here refers to a religious school; he's training to be a minister, IIRC. He and his wife moved to Manhattan last year to attend school. And yeah, he had a bit of a falling-out with some people at rpg.net and doesn't visit anymore. I have no idea whether or not he maintains a presence on any other gaming boards.

Seminary as in seminary school.

He mentioned that his wife was attending seminary to become a priest (see here), not sure if he also was going to seminary school or not. Someone else posted that he is, but I couldn't find any links to Mike Mornard himself saying that he was, just that his wife was.

I stand corrected; it is his wife studying to become a priest. However, I do recall that he is getting a degree of some sort as well.

Yep. Sorry I can't find the relevant posts, but he and his wife moved there so she could attend seminary.

edit: Here's one.

I will be glad to do the legwork if folks can help me get some leads!

EDIT: Might he be a Michael Frances Mornard, age 56, previously living in Minnesota?

No idea about middle name, but the rest looks right. I have compiled some facts and quotes here:

It would be cool if you were able to do this Tavis!

He mentioned he and his wife moved to NYC. After he left RPG.net, he mentioned that he would have a Facebook presence. You might be able to contact him that way.
