I've posted a full report of our playtest session that happened this last Saturday.

DnD Next Playtest, or A Goblin Bloodbath

Happy to field questions/comments either here or there.

I am having a bit of trouble accessing your 'blog. I'll try again later, I'm interested in how your play-test went.

I checked the link, Cameron, so at least we know I didn't screw that up! :)

Let me know if you keep having trouble; I'm playing around with one of blogger's more active "themes", which tends to make it load a bit more slowly, and that's with a decent connection.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

The problem with my linux ASUS netbook, apparently. Either the glacial microprocessor or old version of Firefox I can't be arsed to upgrade.

It loads just fine on my home PC. Your experience matches my one time running the game for a complete newcomer.

That took me by surprise, I must say. I was expecting the blog I was familiar with. Not sure I like the change.

But the content is still awesome, so I won't complain.

I read the 'blog fine, but seem to be having problems posting comments. :-(

Anyway, it looks like your experiences have been quite similar to my own. The "Next" rules so far seem pretty old-school in the way they play and my group has enjoyed playtesting so far. I'll be interested to see where the rules go in later versions, however.

As an aside -- how did you make your little "brown" books? I don't think I can copy-paste text from my playtest docs. I'd love to have something like this on my game table as we play because it would help set the right tone.... :D

Alright---I'm changing the template back.

As for the 3LBBs, I'll leave that explanation to coffee, as they are the product of his own special genius... :)

I wouldn't say genius. Just print the pdf as a booklet, keeping the 8.5 x 11 paper size.

Sure, the print is tiny, but hey. I have bifocals.

The covers I made myself, swiping art from the LBBs and grabbing a font that was 'good enough'.
