Interesting that on RPG.net there is discussion about trying to create a 4E "retro clone" in anticipation that WotC will no longer support 4E when 5E comes out.

Of course, they would have to start with the 3E SRD and "reinvent the wheel" for many things, but it's interesting to see that some folks are taking a Pathfinder type "take it and make it ours when you abandon it" approach.
